The magazine covers the Golden and Silver age of comics with lots of interviews, drawings, character histories and stories. I can spent hours going through each issue.
Alter Ego is a magazine dedicated to what's called the Golden Age of comic books, from the introduction of Superman in Action Comics #1 in 1938 to roughly around 1970. It focuses on many different aspects of the subject, though the parts that I find most interesting are when they focus on the creators... The men (and yes, women too) who created those 4-color worlds where we could escape to. The editor-in-chief is Roy Thomas, one of the most prominent, if not important, writers in the Silver Age, but who started out even earlier as one of most notable fans of comic books. Alter Ego's initial run many years ago, was as a simple "fanzine" that Thomas played a major part in. After a long and distinguished writing career (that still isn't over, mind you), he decided to start up the presses once again to share his love of the medium of comic books. Whether you have a passing interest in the subject, or you are the most dedicated fan who loves sifting through the most obscure of facts, this magazine will have something for you.
