Alto's Adventure Reviews

Amazing!!!

I love this game! It’s a great way to pass the time on road trips, especially with the advantage of being able to work with no internet. The visuals are amazing on my TV and same with the music. I can tell so much work has been put into this! I totally recommend this game to anyone above the age of probably four or five. It has a simple system where you have to click or press in order to do tricks and get farther into the game. The zen mode has beautiful music and it is wonderful to relax and look at the game and its beauty. I definitely recommend it and I hope you give it a try!

Great game, but iPad version buggy

Loving the game, but every so often, the iPadOS version loses the ability to jump all of a sudden. Very frustrating particularly when you’re on a long run and you know you’re going to die shortly without any ability to avoid it. In particular, seeing this bug on OS 17/18 running on an iPad Pro.

Poorly balanced

The coin system to upgrade items or get a helmet is incredibly imbalanced compared to the rate of play required. It gets too difficult to progress and unlock characters after the second one - make is a bore to play when it just becomes too difficult or impossible to pull off triple backflips when neither character can spin fast enough and the jumps are not nearly long enough to accomplish. Otherwise would have been more fun. Graphics are beautifully done. If you want a casual game you will sick of this pretty quick because advancing takes way too much work.

Surprisingly unrefined.

Fun, simple concept that just has a great, relaxing atmosphere. However, for a game this simple that has been on the market for so long—especially since you need to pay for it, it is frustratingly unfinished. If youre going fast enough, your character just goes right through the magnet/feather power-ups without collecting them. And speaking of powerups, the hover power-up is so incredibly useless. It can cause you to float so high at times that you completely miss llamas, coins, and other powerups and does nothing when youre grinding. I actively avoid picking it up because it makes me miss out on coins and magnets. At the same time, it floats you so that you don’t need to worry about hitting rocks, but actually using it—you can STILL hit rocks! So since you can’t always tell if you're gonna hover over the rock or clip the top, AND it makes you miss most coins and magnets, its useless. Unfortunately, avoiding it or not wasting coins to upgrade it isnt always an option because some of the challenges require you use the hover while completing tasks. I wish i could get my money back, this game is just not worth $5. i dont even think i would play it if it was free honestly.

Relaxing/Frustrating at the same time!

Ive been playing AO for a minute now and although i do recommend this overall for its visuals and easy to get into gameplay; this game can be relaxing and frustrating at the same time. You can unlock different characters by completing ”goals” therefore leveling up your character and then having the option to choose those new characters with different attributes to their speed or agility. Completing those goals is where it gets rough because they're not goals based off of skill but based off of RNG (Luck). Any game that has this mechanic has me rolling my eyes as to why this would be implemented. The goals range from simple things to insanely difficult luck based challenges. This kills the mood for this game. they need to rework the goals to make this a more relaxing experience rather than a frustrating one. I would give it more stars if this wasn't the case but for now ill rate it a 3/5.

Great game! Except…

Amazing game! Love the visuals, the music, the mechanics, and just the over all clean and well thought out game design. In a world of trash mobile games, this one really stands out and shows what they should be. I have also played the sequel, Alto’s Odyssey. I must say, that game went far and above this one, so if you like this, definitely get the next one. There are a few comments and notes I would like to add, however. The first thing is about characters. I don’t like how the final character is just objectively better than all the others. I do agree there should be a reward for beating the game, but it should be a character with a really cool play stile, not just overpowered. Maybe like they glow and doing backflips makes them get a short dash or something, or maybe they float. Something very fun and new, but not overpowered. The second is the Apple Arcade thing. I don’t like that you have to pay a subscription to get the best version. There should be the best version at the top for a higher one time charge. The final thing is that there should be a reward for getting really really far, maybe another character or a new feature. And one more thing! Make another game! Add more secrets, characters, biomes, mechanics, and progression, (maybe even a light story) than Odyssey had. I love everything about this game, and would love to see more, not locked behind a subscription. Ps: what was this game coded in? Might make a platformer myself, and would love to know. Keep being awesome!

An Unbelievable Masterpiece

Hands down the most beautiful game on the App Store. The graphics and the music pair for a pitch perfect gaming experience every time any hour of the day. I have found myself playing Zen mode for hours upon hours and I have never gotten bored of it even for a second. Unlike any infinite runner I have ever played Alto’s Adventure is a must have game for anyone. My only regret is not buying it sooner. Thank you so much Snowman. I can’t wait to try Alto’s Odyssey.

No Music or General Sound

V_ISIONS on

United States

Haven’t played this game in Years and thought to buy and downloaded it. Unfortunately, I’m having issues with the sound and music quality; I can’t hear anything when I’m loading in and trying to play the game. It’s like everything goes silent time I load in. Im starting to think I wasted $5 on this and I don’t want to. Is there anything I’m missing or is that simply the game having an audio Bug?…

Great game, annoying day/night cycle

King Chun King on

United States

I don’t want to be too harsh on the weather cycle because it adds some fun to the game, but it sure would be nice to have a “always begin at morning” option. Starting at night on a rainy day is just flat out annoying.
