Only geared to an American audience. Not very inclusive of other countries

Love this app but not all videos have captions so I get left behind as usual when this happens

Not impressed

Very biased towards US users, some very basic omissions for people outside the US. This could be useful if it had been designed for all users not purely for American users. Some of the annoying comments in the presentations. On Irish research you can ignore the 1911 census data as this is after the peak of immigration, so Ireland was empty after this time. On English research the 1939 census is ignored as possibly very few people in America would have ancestors there at this time. The presenter also said that Coventry was in the North, shows a lack of research, yes it is north of London but it is in the Midlands. Also the occupation char lady was somebody who worked for rich people, I bet most char ladies didn’t know that. The comments in themselves are trivial but it showed a lack of knowledge but would be suitable for Americans but not for anyone else. Sorry this was a good idea but it could have been so much better if it had been aimed at a wider audience. I will not be watching anymore of these

Great for American audiences

This is a useful resource and some videos are relevant to all countries. However the fast majority are aimed at an American audience. It would be brilliant if there were videos for different countries. Also some of the videos for DNA have not been updated for the last east website. Finally the app has been working fine till now, but it now keeps crashing and will not open.

Connectivity enhancement required

When not on WiFi the app won’t let me login. It states that I must be on a network to continue. This is somewhat ridiculous. I have enough GBs to cover this, and you don’t give me the choice, just cut me off from access. Tut tut

Great

Great app to complete courses whilst away from PC However - despite having mobile data enabled, cannot use the app without WiFi ### please fix this ##% I do wish the Academy would return the mini tests and certificates though And would benefit from an update for iPhone X display

The videos are short and to the point. You can save them to your playlist for future reference.

I’m an adoptee and a senior citizen. It is so great to be able to search for family now as well as ancestors. Just the use of the census records at our fingertips is phenomenal. I highly encourage anyone to take a dive into their own histories!

Better than I expected, lots left to learn, new places to look!

WOW!! What a great resource. I’ve been doing family history for over 50 years…self-taught and worth every cent. I expected to be overwhelmed, in the dark, too old to learn now. I’m pleasantly surprised to find that I’m better educated than I think…always nice to know. It’s surprising to find that all those mistakes, years of writing people, hours at the library with a patient husband caring for 5 kids, and a bunch of Eureka moments…usually accidental, yielded some knowledge. Now, thanks to the Academy, I have SO many new places to look, and tips and tricks and…I gotta go!
