两千五百年前，人类的伟大导师佛陀诞生，佛陀一生领悟自然，追求真理，并把所觉悟到的真理无私的传播给人类，为黑暗和痛苦中的人类带来了希望和光明。
《汉译巴利三藏》由《律藏》、《经藏》和《论藏》构成：
《律藏》是世尊为诸弟子制定的戒律、教诫和生活规则。一共有19品，以不同的方式解释前面的戒律内容。《律藏》是三藏中的第一藏，是一切比库、比库尼都应当认真学习、仔细研究，并切实去遵守、行持的。
《经藏》是世尊以及圣弟子们的言行集。一共有五部，即《长部》、《中部》、《相应部》、《增支部》、《小部》。
《论藏》的论，古音译为阿毗达摩、阿毗昙。现在讲的“阿毗达摩”属于论的部分。 “阿毗达摩”是什么意思呢？阿毗(abhi)的意思是上等的、殊胜的、卓越的。达摩的意思是法。一共有七部，分别是《法集论》、《分别论》、《界论》、《人施设论》、《论事》、《双论》和《发趣论》。
