Description

*** Hearing tests at home! ***
This is a simple hearing test app.
This app can test frequency of 125hz to 8000hz and plot the result on charts.
You can save the results and compare them to find daily change of your hearing.

*** Ear Age Test ***
You can also test the age of ears. As you get older, you lose the ability to hear high frequency sounds. This high frequency sounds are also called "Mosquito sounds" or "Mosquito tones".
In this test, this app plays up to 20000hz tones and determines how far high frequency you can hear. Your ears may be younger than your actual age!

This app is very good to me, it works fine

ENT Doctor suggested this app

SinbadlovestoRun on

I recently suffered from Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss and went to A&E at 3am. The ENT doctor I saw (within 30 mins!!) wanted to do a hearing test, but no audiologist was there. He suggested this app to me to do one. I didn’t have my headphones with me though, but starting using it as soon as I got home to do regular tests, and speaking as someone who has had many hearing tests, I can see why he suggested it. A couple of reasons for not 5 stars is first, an actual visual compare function between two different tests, so you can look at the graphs between two different tests at the same time, would be really useful. The other is around improving accuracy - it’s really important that you ensure you don’t have any equalisation settings enabled like bass boost on your headphones. To be on the safe side, while doing tests I go to Settings - Music - EQ and then turn EQ to off, also just to be on the safe side, I turn everything off under Audio. It might be that the app bypasses these, but my JVC HA-531BT have a separate loudness function. I think the app should help with this. Aside from that, it’s a very good app, the shapes of the results are reflective of what I get from a proper hearing test.

Useful Guide for Hearing

PhilCutting on

I downloaded this to test my hearing once everyone around me started to mumble. I realised that it wouldn’t be accurate but it confirmed what I expected. Sadly, the ‘Age Test’ showed I couldn’t hear above 7000Hz while my 14 year old granddaughter could hear up to 20,000Hz, so it’s definitely me, not the others!

Good but needs to support Apple Health Audiograms

Good

My hearing age was 55. Is that good?

Great and easy to use

Charlie171255 on

I was worried about my hearing, as I sometimes struggle to hear conversations when there is background noise I’m 63 and the tests gave mostly normal with moderate loss at high end, did the age test and it came out at 50 I’ll take that 🤗

Simple, if probably inaccurate, app...

The Craftwoman on

The app runs on my iPad with any issues. Very simple to use (set volume to 50% and go) but I think it needs a little more thought. I compared it to my audiogram performed professionally at SpecSavers. The low frequencies up to 500Hz are a good match, but as the frequency increases, my reported hearing level drops to 15 or 20 dB below the professional measured values. It's not a bad profile, just negatively biased... For both ears. TL;DR the app works but is negatively biased by about 20dB above 500Hz relative to my professionally obtained audiogram.

Allows me to check variable hearing

Fireballxlarge on

I have changes in pressure in my ears that appears to have an impact on my hearing. It will be good to see if this is the case.

Let down by odd programming

Akkenru on

This is actually a really good hearing test app, but it has been programmed rather peculiarly. Each test, in my opinion, should be independent of any previous ones, however they're seemingly not. With anyone's hearing, sensitivity, auditory gain and temporary threshold shifts can cause a fluctuation in how well they can hear. Some days a person might demonstrate an audiogram suggesting they could benefit from hearing aid and other days not. With that in mind, I've noticed that due to a temporary threshold shift several days ago with my left ear, the hearing test is starting louder, and not going as quiet, before coming back up to a very audible volume. It's not testing the quietest I can hear a tone in that ear, it's working around a reference from a previous test and not going low enough. Whilst that level of personalisation might be useful for people whose hearing rarely fluctuates, it's giving me inaccurate results and I feel it would be far more useful to work from a baseline on each test. I could delete some previous tests to improve the tailoring, but I'd rather have a record of the shift in my history if I can.

Simple but effective

This is a straightforward and easy app to use I found the results replicated a basic hearing test by professional the results are easy to understand in a graphical format.
