서울시는 시민의 보다 나은 삶을 위한 공공적 가치를 추구하고 도시 공간에 신선한 예술적 상상력과 인간적 정취를 담고자 2016년부터 [서울은 미술관] 사업을 추진하고 있습니다.
[서울은 미술관] 사업으로 추진된 서울로 미디어캔버스는 ‘서울로 7017’ 옆에 설치된 미디어플랫폼으로 전문작가의 미디어아트와 시민 영상작품을 전시합니다.
더불어, ‘서울로’를 찾는 시민들이 참여할 수 있는 다양한 프로그램을 운영하여
도시 서울에 활력을 불어넣고 도시를 보다 풍요롭게 하고자 합니다.
서울로 미디어캔버스는 시민이 향유하고 공감할 수 있는 미디어아트와 영상콘텐츠 등 전자적 빛으로 이루어진 예술작품을 지속적으로 전시함으로써 공공미술의 영역을 확장하고, 또한 의미있는 예술행위를 통해 공유가능한 예술장소로 만들어 나갈 것입니다.
