本书是以人教版《小学英语》教材所包含的862个单词为基础，着重参考了《牛津英语》、《剑桥少儿英语》、《新标准小学英语》编写的一本英语词汇记忆手册。作者根据所收集到的小学英语单词的特点及小学生的记忆特点和规律，逐个分析其结构，归纳其类别，将本书词汇分为三个板块，第一板块是识记篇。通过词汇的分类记忆可使小学生对各类常见单词的音、形、义有初步的了解,并把简单的单词记住。第二部分是记忆篇。就是要使学生牢固记住这些单词的音、形、义，使之做到听其音就知其义，并能将其形写下来。第三部分是应用篇，就是通过课文里的短语来造句，以达到交流的目的。
