《金刚经》是佛教重要经典。根据不同译本，全名略有不同，鸠摩罗什所译全名为《金刚般若（bōrě）波罗蜜经》，唐玄奘译本则为《能断金刚般若波罗蜜经》， 梵文 Vajracchedika-prajñāpāramitā-sūtra。《金刚经》传入中国后，自东晋到唐朝共有六个译本，以鸠摩罗什所译《金刚般若波罗蜜经》最为流行（5176字或5180字）。唐玄奘译本，《能断金刚般若波罗蜜经》共8208字，为鸠摩罗什译本的一个重要补充。其他译本则流传不广。
