대한불교청년회에서 만해스님의 정신을 위해 우리말 팔만대장경 편찬사업을 추진해 왔고, 지난 2011년 우리말 팔만대장경 개정 신판을 발행하는 등 의미있는 활동을 펼쳐왔다. 이번에 개발된 우리말 팔만대장경 애플리케이션 역시 미래 세대를 위한 포교의 수단으로 스마트폰이나 SNS를 통한 포교의 필요성이 대두되면서 제작하게 되었다.
불교를 처음 접할 때 어려움이 많은데 우리말 팔만대장경은 쉽게 정리가 잘 돼 있다.
