重庆南开中学是重庆市重点中学，校址位于重庆市沙坪坝区沙南街1号，由著名爱国教育家张伯苓先生创立于1936年，秉承“允公允能，日新月异”校训，致力培养德智体美劳全面发展、兼具世界眼光和中国情怀的建设者和接班人。学校占地260余亩，绿树成荫，学风浓郁，底蕴深厚，颇具学府气息，被誉为“中学里的大学”、“人才沃土、院士摇篮”。学校建有南开特色的“公能”课程体系，获得国家教学成果奖一等奖，被国家授予“全国文明校园”荣誉称号。建校以来先后培养了7万余名毕业生，33位中国科学院、中国工程院院士，邹家华、周光召、朱光亚、张存浩、吴敬琏、阎肃等是其中的优秀代表。1997年重庆直辖以来至2019年，有991名学生考入北大、清华，9000余名学生考取“双一流”大学，500余人考取哈佛、剑桥、耶鲁、港大等世界一流高校。
