妙法蓮華經(Saddharmapundarika-sutra) ，簡稱《法華經》， 在古印度、尼泊爾等地長期流行。在克什米爾、尼泊爾和中國新疆、西藏等地有40多種梵文版本，分爲尼泊爾體系、克什米爾體系（基爾基特）和新疆體系。
《法華經》是釋迦牟尼佛晚年在王舍城靈鷲山所說，爲大乘佛教初期經典之壹。 是佛陀釋迦牟尼晚年說教，宣講內容至高無上，明示不分貧富貴賤、人人皆可成佛。關鍵詞“妙法蓮華”。“妙法”指的是壹乘法、不二法；“蓮華”比喻“妙”在什麽地方，第壹是花果同時，第二是出淤泥而不染，第三是內斂不露。
