車公廟紀念的車公（車大元帥）是宋朝(960-1279)名將，他曾經成功平定江南之亂。據說 在南宋末年，宋帝昺南下逃難，車大元帥一直護駕到香港。後來，他不幸去世， 後人為表其忠勇，所以為他立廟供奉。
