面对每年国内出版的数万种童书，如何选择最基本的适合小学生阅读的图书？由著名教育家朱永新教授领衔，邀集全国各个领域的专家研制的“中国小学生基础阅读书目”共100种，在2011年颁布。该书目颁布后引起广泛反响，被北京大学教授、儿童文学作家曹文轩赞为“最可靠的一份书目”。
该书包就是精选了100种中的16本好书，分为 小学低年级、中年级、高年级，按照文学、科学、人文三部分精选图书，调制给小学生最适宜的精神营养。
