本游戏是以中国古代 残唐五代 为背景的模拟游戏，共有残唐五代史中记载的700多名武将，每个武将作者都收集了人物列传。
除了游戏功能以外，玩家可以通过人物列传了解残唐、五代十国时期的历史故事，人物背景。
扮演朱温、李克用、阿保机等历史人物，重现残唐五代史上的光辉时刻。
残唐五代是指唐末农民起义(黄巢起义)开始，至北宋消灭十国残余势力为止的中国历史时期。这段时期又分为残唐(唐末乱世)和五代(五代十国)两个时期，其中唐末乱世指的是从黄巢起义被镇压后，直至朱温篡唐的时间段，五代十国则是在唐朝灭亡后至北宋灭北汉以前的地方政权并立时间段。
残唐五代是继汉末三国之后，中国又一次大规模全面性的军阀混战时期。历史惊人相似：唐末乱世相当于东汉末年，为中央政权(东汉或唐)名存实亡，军阀割据时代；五代十国相当于三国鼎立，是军阀割据延续下的数个政权并立的时代。
