煤炭远教网现已建成集互联网、移动互联网等多学习平台于一体的现代远程教育培训网络体系，具有完善的用户信息管理、课程资源管理、企业培训管理、学习管理、考试及测评管理、评价管理、档案管理等学习及培训相关功能。会员单位和煤炭职工可以根据自身特点选择合适的平台组织培训和进行网络学习。
煤炭远教网上课程资源板块全部围绕煤炭主体专业和煤炭上下游产业开设，包括党政工团、经营管理、行业前沿、煤矿安全、职业健康、井工开采、露天开采、智慧矿山、选煤、煤化工等板块和“煤炭大讲堂”、“煤矿实用小课堂”等安全特色栏目。其中煤矿安全板块，包括三项岗位人员安全培训、安全法规、灾害防治、应急救援、工种安全动漫微课等。煤炭远教网每年新增教学内容近千课时，网上课程总量保持在一万课时左右，均具有自有知识产权。
煤炭远教网师资队伍涵盖从各煤炭高校、煤炭科研院所、煤炭企业选拔出的1700位各领域专家，他们集教育、科研、设计、制造、管理于一体，为全面提升煤炭远教网教育培训资源质量发挥了重要作用。
