สำนักการวิจัยแห่งชาติ (วช.) สนับสนุนการสร้างเครือข่ายเซ็นเซอร์วัดฝุ่นละอองขนาดเล็ก PM2.5 ของประเทศไทย โดยบูรณาการข้อมูลแบบเรียบไทม์ในแต่ละพื้นที่ติดตั้ง แล้วนำมาแสดงผลในรูปของค่าเฉลี่ยรายชั่วโมง ในหน่วยไมโครกรัมต่อลูกบาศก์เมตร และค่าเฉลี่ยรายวัน ในหน่วยไมโครกรัมต่อลูกบาศก์เมตร และค่าดัชนีคุณภาพอากาศจาก PM2.5 หรือ PM2.5 Th-AQI
นอกจากนั้นยังใช้โมเดล WRF-Chem ในการพยากรณ์ข้อมูลฝุ่นละอองขนาดเล็ก PM2.5 และ PM2.5 Th-AQI ล่วงหน้าจำนวนสามวัน และมีข้อมูลพิกัดจุดความร้อน จากดาวเทียมนาซ่าทั้งในระบบ MODIS และระบบ VIIRS โดยสามารถระบุลักษณะการใช้ประโยชน์ของที่ดิน ทั้งนี้เพื่อให้หน่วยงานต่างๆ ทั้งภาครัฐและเอกชนสามารถใช้ข้อมูลต่างๆ ในการเฝ้าระวังและเตือนภัยจากวิกฤตฝุ่นควันมลพิษทางอากาศของประเทศไทยได้อย่างฉับไว แม่นยำ และมีประสิทธิภาพ
