Description

Documenting Black History in Augmented Reality (AR)
Celebrate BLACK HISTORY all year long with the exciting and innovative learning experience crafted by renowned black artist, Anthony W. Phills. His United States premiere installation of “UNBREAKABLE” is the first Augmented Reality (AR) tour of its kind that immerses the user into an African’s journey to antebellum America. Unbreakable AR Exhibit comes to you with two AR experiences; (1) Statue: Cudjoe Kazoola Lewis in app and (2) Tour: Enslaved Person with Slaveholder on location in selected cities in the United States and around the world.
Statue: Cudjoe Kazoola Lewis
Anthony brings us a beautiful 3D AR likeness of Oluale Kossola, also known as Cudjo Lewis, who was the second to last known survivor of the Atlantic slave trade between Africa and the United States. The Lewis’ statue comes with a short ninety second audio history of his life when you walk within 1.5 ft of the AR replica.
Tour: Enslaved Person with Slaveholder
Unbreakable second AR experience allows you to explore the historical moment from a new perspective and depth. Your AR experience starts in the following Cities: New Your City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, Washington DC, Chicago, New Orleans, Miami, Dallas, Kentucky, and Alabama. After selecting your city, users can walk around the statues of an Enslaved person and Slaveholder in a way few have been able to do before with Anthony’s rich visual and immersive audio integrated.
Help Make a Difference
I am seeking your support to help me continue the IMMERSIVE LEARNING experience with the building of the "Clotilda Slave Ship" my next exhibition.
Without a doubt, living history experiences have a much more powerful impact on younger people than just reading stories in a book. When completed, the "Clotilda Slave Ship" exhibition AR experience will enable the audience to see exactly what it was like to be aboard one of these ships and understand the experience from a more emphatic place.
We hope that this exhibition will help the target audience understand the resiliency of their ancestors and also understand why it is important to take a position on human rights issues of today. We plan to make this project a reoccurring event and not a “one-off” event. We want to be able to bring this to kids in the inner cities and around the world.
Our goal is to make it available for download so that everyone can experience African and Black History right in front of them for FREE, and therefore we are seeking the support of well-meaning members of our community and the general public who sees truly the importance of this IMMERSIVE LEARNING experience.
