If I remember correctly, this used to be a pay to play game from Crescent moon games, where you got full access to everything after buying this on the app store. Now it looks like some sort of subscription-based game. Not sure what happened. Also, the UI and storyline feels different.
My only real beef, is with controlling the player’s screen viewing during game play. It is horribly fast; almost uncontrollable for a desired point. Often during redirecting your view, you have to correct, having over shot your aimed at point of view. Having only played a single character for a couple of hours, that for the game’s subscripted cost, is my only real complaint. If the game viewpoint control had at lesst decent amounts of controlability, the game coukd be back up to the initial 4* rating that I gave the game, early into it.
I am rating both this application and GameClub itself, as they must be intertwined. Firstly, the game is thoroughly enjoyable, a relic and iconoclast, as there are few offline, single player options of this quality. Immersive and extensive, yet it is (was) held back by the atrocious placement of the d-pad, which is fixed in an awkward position. One adapts, reluctantly. If you want a relatively open world, third person epic RPG of questing and adventure, this does suffice. Secondly, kudos to GameClub. The quality of abandoned games they are reviving is commendable, and the fact they offer free upgrades to people who have previously purchased the game is utterly altruistic. This sort of generosity is unprecedented, considering the not unsubstantial tweaks they do, improving gameplay substantially. Well worth the subscription price. Edit: the placement of the d-pad was adjusted, as the developer has clarified and was in the update notes, which is wonderful (hence my amended review. Perhaps I was affected by my enthusiasm to see it rereleased). Also, the new graphic textures are an extremely noticeable improvement.
Latest update broke the inventory dialogue that lets you see the characteristics of items. Kinda hard to see what weapons and armour are better or worse when you literally can’t see the stats. Please fix this.
I have played this game many times and it worked flawlessly. For some reason. It is now hanging me up in the doorway of the smugglers’ cave. I can go through the white mist but I cannot continue on into the cave. Apple made some big changes to their programs when they released the latest version of their iPad line. I am looking forward to receiving a game update so I can play again.
This really shouldn’t be allowed in the App Store. Good game with potential but is so glitchy it’s unplayable. Can’t progress past a certain point because the game crashes.
My bag is gone! I can’t equip items or do anything involving my inventory. Major glitch right from the start. It occasionally reappears.... then *poof* gone again! Super frustrating. Lots of other minor glitches like not being able to use the bow, delays between switching to melee Wpns from ranged, Equipping a bow should auto equip arrows... why would I want a torch in one hand and a bow in the other making it impossible to attack. Lame sauce guys. These are easy fixes that I hope you sort out. Without these glitches, I’d rate this game 5stars every time
Very buggy; the menu screen is nearly always dark and you cant see any of your items or dialogue scenes or skill points. The game also crashes when trying to ride a boat, which is an essential part of the gameplay. In essence, Aralon is now impossible to play.
