Artemis Director's Viewfinder Reviews

Artemis, a tremendous app for pre production and shoot, being able to keep files from pre production write through to shooting, being able to create a type of storyboard during line ups, being able to switch between camera set ups and lenses when doing VFX shoots with ease, highly recommend to all new and old. Don’t buy this app if you shoot on Canon RF Mount!

TigerboyAB on

United Kingdom

This is a great app, providing you don’t shoot Canon RF mount, as there are zero RF options to choose from in this category. Even a camera like the Canon R3 is not present. It shoots beautiful 6K Raw and is a great B-Cam - especially in the adventure, event and sports genres. With the announcement, and near release, of the Canon C400, I hope there are plans to at least add this camera and supporting RF lenses. Red Cameras obviously support the RF mount too - at least for now… This app is relatively expensive, so these omissions are extremely disappointing.

Great tool for every film maker

Artemis is the perfect tool and one I utilise on every shoot!! Cinematographer, Camera Operator and Director need to have this app! It’s a great tool for every film maker and works in pre production just as well as during production. Love using the new shot list and project folders within the app, being able to send people a shot list and actual frames we intend to shoot on the day and details is just a perfect tool addition.

Good but feature missing

When I take an extra wide shot, the edges are left as ugly arrows. How can I enable virtual wide and fill in the edges please? Tutorials online are lacking.

Fantastic tool

This app makes it so simple to line up shots. Just pick your camera and lenses and go! I wouldn’t be on set without it whether as director or cinematographer.

The industry standard

Simply put Artemis Pro is the industry standard viewfinder, used on every serious film set across the world. It’s full of incredibly useful features, is constantly being improved and has a development team who are extremely responsive to feedback. I can’t recommend it enough.

Superb App, and fantastic tech support.

Ive been using Artemis pro for quite some time now. I purchased alongside Helios pro. Both apps work well together and are very powerful tools. Prior to using Artemis I was using a cheaper version Directors finder. As soon as I switched over I knew I had made the right decision… and wished I had done so earlier. My onset work flow has changed since Covid hit and Ive gone paperless. I work off an iPad with Scriptation… and I also switched to using Artemis on an iPad. I really recommend using it this way if you can. It lets me frame shots and discuss options with the Director and other team members. It feels far more inclusive on the larger screen. There are other apps out there… but this is definitely the best one I have used. I also have to point out that the level of customer support is astounding. I had a technical mishap caused by human error. I emailed the support and almost immediately got a response and was chatting to the Apps creator. My issue… even though self inflicted… was rectified. I cannot reiterate how well worth the money this app is.
