AURA App Reviews

Very disappointing

GFunkAllStarInOz on

Australia

My first strap stopped recording readings after a couple months. Worked with support, they sent me a new strap which had also started to get flaky. Between flaky devices and inconsistent readings when the device does work I can’t recommend. They obviously know something is wrong because even their reddit presence is heavily moderated and anything other than a glowing response is immediately deleted. Trying to hide honest feedback is a bad sign for a consumer devices company.

Complete waste of time and money

Never works. They sent a replacement which also is just as difficult to actually get a reading. Probably not even accurate anyway. I got about 5 readings between two straps over 7 months. Support is useless.

Disappointing Experience: Aura Strap 2 Falls Short of Expectations

OzzieTraveller on

Australia

As someone eager to track body composition conveniently at home, I was excited to try out the Aura Strap 2. However, my experience with the device has been nothing short of frustrating. Despite the promise of easy body composition readings, the Aura Strap 2 consistently fails to deliver accurate measurements. More often than not, I find myself spending 10-15 minutes attempting to obtain a reading, only to be met with the discouraging message of "inaccurate measurements, try again." One of the major inconveniences I encountered was the need to constantly change straps due to the Aura Strap 2 not being waterproof. This limitation adds an unnecessary hassle to the user experience, especially considering the premium price tag attached to the product. While I appreciate the concept behind the Aura Strap 2 and the potential it holds for convenient at-home body composition tracking, the reality is that it falls short of expectations. Despite my initial excitement, the product has turned out to be a total waste of money. It simply does not live up to the hype surrounding it. In conclusion, my experience with the Aura Strap 2 has been disappointing, and I cannot recommend it to others who are seeking reliable and convenient body composition monitoring.

Works well if used correctly

When I first purchased this, it seemed finicky to use and I kept getting from the app not being able to acquire data. However after removing it from my Apple Watch strap and just using it as a stand alone sensor with relaxed arms in the right posture, I found the readings to be quite reliable. I take measurements only once per week at the same time and I’ve found stats like body fat %, visceral fat, muscle bass and mineral density to be quite accurate. We tried the guest mode as my girlfriend was sceptical but her readings were quite close too. Whilst it’s not as accurate as X-ray and MRI analysis, this works great as a mini BIA monitor that provides an overall picture of your body composition.

It’s a no for me but was a fun experiment

I regularly check my body composition using two scales: a high-end Withings Body Scan and a mid-range Amazon scale. I bought the Aura Strap 2.0 to replace the Amazon scale for travel ease, attracted by its 95% accuracy claim. However, after testing it for three days at the same time each day right before using my scale, I found significant inconsistencies in body fat readings (26%, 23%, 24.5%) compared to my scales (20.5%, 20.3% and 20.4%). This variance questions its accuracy and usefulness for me, as it doesn't align with my long-term data and disrupts years of smooth data in my apple health app. While its design is commendable, I can only recommend it for those new to body composition tracking who don’t have existing readings so you can track progress. For me, the scan did work every time I initiated it contrary to another review here (Apple Watch ultra 2). It provides a useful circular chart grading your body, but the reading process is time-consuming at what at least feels like 60 seconds which would be acceptable if it was more accurate. Separately - I am familiar with daily fluctuations in body comp and these fluctuations are not present with my body scale. I also have read the user guide instructions twice. I am confident it is the strap and not me.

Rarely works, waste of money!

This device was a complete waste of money! The app rarely works to record the measurements, you stand there for ages whilst it apparently ‘reads’ your body, only to then have nothing come of it 9 out of 10 times it fails or just freezes. The app is frustrating, the recording is unreliable at best, the whole experience has been a let down. I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone in its current state. Save your money and your sanity!

Not worth it

alexanderiskrenov on

Australia

Been using the strap for over a month now and most parameters fluctuate with ~5%. They really oversold the idea of being able to see the micro-changes in your body. My $50 scale produces more accurate measures. Really disappointed with the product, but too late now for a return. Was really annoyed that I have to change the strap constantly because it’s not water proof/resistant.

Waste of money

too many pikachus ruin it on

Australia

Takes 10 minutes to get any type of scan done follow instructions to the word and apparently I’m doing it wrong, if you can get two readings in a row it changes wish I never spent my money on it

Worthless

amandarebecca on

Can not get it to take a measurement to save its life. Had for about 6 weeks and got 2 measurements total, attempting 2-3 times a week every week since I got it. Even bought new batteries and tried that. Does not work and is not worth the money at all.

Love the Aura Strap

BST4CM on

I’ve had mine for just about a month … easy to set up and the monitoring feedback is fabulous. Tracks more than my body comp scale! Whatever you’re looking to improve, weight , building muscle, nutrition… this strap monitors all and the app works fantastic
