This app is a great guide if you’re coming to Australia. I am Australian and it is great to find out new slang to use when going about my day.
Why there are a couple that are accurate Most are absolutely ridiculous for example Boot is what a lot of people use to describe a cars trunk however if you walk up to some and say oh mate where's the bush TV they will look at you like your a dead set moron Honestly I strongly advise you not you rely on this if your coming Australia
A lot of people on here have not travelled much outside of their own worlds ... I know people who still use almost all of these - generally outside of the main cities, but also within Melbourne. Just because you are a young Aussie doesn’t mean that everything you and your friends say is all there is to Australia. So I like the idea and its not a bad app. But too many adds!!!!! Also there are variations around Australia so some reviewers are going off their own personal experience of these words - which just isn’t canon because its the way you use it! But having said that I know every word that I have seen so far and I know some of the definitions might be a bit skewed depending on where you come from. eg: Dinky Di means something that is the real thing, the real deal, a ‘dinky di Aussie’ is a real Aussie. But the app says ‘something good’ which is like 20% of its meaning ... and there are a few others like that. So in the same way that reviewers think their definitions are ‘right’ I feel like the app creators may have gone on their own tangents a little. But how do you really get a good definition for ‘slang’ it’s language outside of the normal rules, so its different across states, ages and economic groups. I think this app does a fair job of getting close on most of them.
I’m Australian and I was very displeased when I saw this app, and I’m hoping no one is using it for education purposes as they will only embarrass themselves if they come to Australia. Although me and my friend looked at it and thought it was hilarious, I’m still disappointed.
This app is terrible I’m Aussie and never heard of these words plus I’ve seen a lot of apps including this one that get Aussie and Irish messed up. Highly DON’T recommend this app to anyone.
Honestly, it’s cool and all but I have a few complaints. For starters, most of the phrases I have never heard in my life and are very very old school. Also, there are so many ads. I completely understand needing to get a profit off them and stuff but it is very annoying. It’s still an ok app though.
TerribleApp considering the exorbitant cost. Completely old school & useless slang. BETTER OFF WITH THE FREE APPS😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
Hey guys upgrade it!
