Auto HD + FPS for YouTube

Automatic quality and FPS

Published by: Carlos Jeurissen

Description

Tired of YouTube not automatically setting videos to the appropriate quality? This extension will not only let you specify the quality of the videos, but will also consider FPS! This means, for example - if your computer can handle 1080p videos at 30 FPS, but not at 60 FPS - you can automatically set 60 FPS videos to play at 720p! And the best part - it works for embedded YouTube videos as well! (I.e. YouTube videos that aren't in YouTube.com) It can even automatically resize videos according to your preference!

Great…when it works

The extension does what it says, about 50% of the time. When it works it’s fantastic, but very inconsistent.

Doesn’t Auto Resize

ChinaBlue007 on

Extension used to auto resize videos to full frame on my old Intel Mac mini but I just upgraded to the M1 Studio and it no longer auto-resizes reliably. Don’t know if it’s the new M1 Studio somehow, the latest Sonoma or a recent extension update that broke it but it seems to have begun coincidentally with me upgrading to the M1 Studio.

App simply doesn’t work anymore.

Does not work on iPhone

When this is on with 1080p setting it forces the video to be 360p, and you can't even manually change the resolution.

Simply an excellent app

Recently I cannot get this to work anymore. I have to turn it off in order to get the video quality to be what I want it to be now.

UPD: stopped working

The app stopped working on my iPhone 11 (17.0.3) long time ago and I was hopping that the problem was going to be fixed but looks like it’s not happening, so I feel like I need to update this review Original review: I’ve been looking for such an app for a long time! I use it on my IPhone 11 (16.0.2) and I didn’t have any issues with it. All videos start in HD quality once you open a page, no more manual tweaking needed! Finally!! Thank you for developing and publishing it here! Note: keep in mind that you should enable this extension in safari settings and allow access to YouTube domains before using it. I believe a step by step instruction (possibly with screenshots) would help people that haven’t done it before.
