How much does AutoCAD cost?
AutoCAD has several in-app purchases/subscriptions, the average in-app price is $115.99.
I’m newly exploring the field, and wanted try this out (for free). I assumed it would be a free app, and went through the sign-up process, only to find out it it’s all behind a pay-wall. A total waste of time. It should be the other way around - show the pay wall, and if the customer chooses to go on, THEN sign up.
Rip off
Why don’t these companies tell you the true cost of their software. I just need to view def files… not spend $75 a year to do it.
Thanks for wasting my time.
98% Awesome
I struggled at first with file versioning, and the UI was frustrating lacking “tablet style gestures” however give it a few hours and you start to see the sense in autocads approach, updates fixed the file renaming issues, OneDrive works great and I am now proficient and find it very useful - def. give it a crack but be ready for a learning curve on the UI
Waste of time
Don’t bother with this app, it simply doesn’t work. To start with it doesn’t even include iCloud Drive support, then to top it off when you finally get into a file it doesn’t let you do anything once an object is selected. Once an object is selected, clicking any of the commands (eg. Move, copy, scale) appears to cause an error, so doesn’t work and immediately cancels your selection. Waste of time. I’m using an iPhone 7+. Would give 0 stars if that was an option.
Retired Engineer
Have used AutoCAD for some 30yrs in my career. Now retired but still involved in low key community projects and find A/C useful on intermittent occasions. Unfortunately as these occasions are sporadic I can’t justify the subscription. But still a very good product and would recommend to any engineer.
Perfect
Good
Mobile functionality
This is an awesome asset for on site clarifications and small alterations, enabling efficient work flow.. No doubt additional features will come in time but even as is, its a great tool.
Love it but missing features
Drawing is super cool and fast but everything beyond that quickly becomes painful. Hardly ready for production
Missing:
- layer editing options
- block export
- scripting
I am a fan of the product but would like to see more features, I would be happy to pay more! At the moment Autocad for iOS comes through as an semi-advanced dwg viewer.
I love that I can add data to existing drawings but I have to take that back to the workstation to keep the database clean, extra work for nothing. Time cost is too heavy.
It's good but...
it has _many_ limitations. Works great as a viewer for basic vector drawings, but very clunky for editing and plotting, esp. compared to the desktop version. The plotting is totally broken for xref images, repeating commands is tedious, 3D is basically a no-go. It's understandable that it has to jettison the full functionality of express tools, lisp routines, add-ons etc. And they've done well to squeeze a highly robust package into a small touchscreen device. But for me it's untenable to use this beyond the trial period for the price asked, there's just too many deficiencies.
Can't work without this app on site.
I have been able to make many important decisions by opening a drawing on my iPad & not having to travel back to the office .
This is a very useful tool.
