Avaz AAC Reviews

The Best

Simply the best AAC app out there. My son is autistic/non-verbal and with Avaz we have had our first communication with him since his first regression. We couldn't be happier!

One of the best full-featured AAC apps on the market in my opinion. Practice sessions included make this app unique and easy to learn. High contrast, changing icon size, variety of vocabulary choices, zoom and search features make this app a "must-have" for an SLP trialling AAC with students. The developer is very receptive to feedback and app is continuously improving.

Don’t like mandatory sign in with new update… We are managing many for a school district. Change it back so that is in options.

I use this app on iPads in my classroom and it is amazing. It is completely programmable, user friendly, and allows you to customize boards for each individual need. The voice speaks clearly and it is easy for students to figure out. Thanks for giving my students a voice!

Love this app! Cannot say enough about it. My son is 15 and non-verbal. This is so frustrating not to be able to hear what he has to say. He cannot Tell me how his day was, if anyone was mean to him or why he has a scratch or bruise on him or if he is sick what hurts him. I have tried for several years to get the school to get a communication board for him. They kept telling me no because then he would never talk if he gets a device to communicate for him. Well about 4 months ago I got AVAZ and since school could not help me in getting him a communication board Or an iPad I took our family iPad and explained to my other kids that it is more important for Victor to have it then it is for us. With the help of ARK we were able to get the school to agree to have Victor take iPad to school with the AVAZ app on it. He is doing so GREAT the teachers are realizing that HE HAS a voice. He Has an opinion And he is even trying to talk now! People are able to make out some words that he is saying, I knew that it would not keep him from talking. I knew it would only help him talk more I am so excited for him. It has even helped out with his anger problems. I could not figure out why he kept getting in trouble at school for getting angry. Well anyone would get angry and frustrated if you were not able to communicate what you need or feel or want. He even makes a few jokes too with AVAZ app. He still has a long way to go so he can talk but for now I am so excited that he has a way to communicate. Still trying to get or win him his own IPad but for now my other kids understand and are just as excited that he is communicating more now. My son has thoughts, feelings and wants to be heard too. Thanks AVAZ!

I have been fortunate enough to review a lot of AAC apps. Some are good and some are not. Most are very complicated. I am tech savvy, but a lot of those apps left me "Wondering how do I teach this to my child with autism?" Avaz is different it is setup to help you learn how to use the app in stages. There is a quick screen, basic and advanced options. I like this app because a parent can figure it out and it would still be thorough enough for a therapist or educator to use as well. @jedipadmaster on twitter

I bought this app after reading the many positive reviews that I now realize are clearly fake. This was a waste of money and seems like every other AAC app on the market, some of which are free.
