avvistAPP è un'app realizzata per segnalare la presenza della noce di mare-una specie aliena per il nord adriatico. Seppur non urticante per l'uomo (è uno ctenoforo e non una medusa!), questo animale può rappresentare un notevole problema per l'ecosistema marino: è un vorace predatore che si ciba di zooplancton (il cibo dei pesci) e di uova e larve di pesce. A causa degli effetti negativi che la noce di mare può determinare nei luoghi in cui viene introdotta, è stata inserita nella lista delle 100 specie invasive più dannose al mondo. Dall’estate 2016 la noce di mare forma enormi sciami (bloom) anche in nord Adriatico, creando seri problemi al settore della pesca nella Laguna di Grado e Marano.
avvistAPP rappresenta uno strumento che permette a tutti di contribuire in maniera attiva al monitoraggio dell'invasione della noce di mare nel Golfo di Trieste: riconoscere l'organismo, se possibile scattare una foto e inviare una segnalazione con il proprio cellulare. Oltre alla noce di mare, con avvistAPP è possibile segnalare anche altri organismi molto comuni per il nostro mare, come meduse, tartarughe e delfini. Questi dati saranno raccolti e analizzati dai ricercatori di OGS e saranno disponibili per tutta la comunità scientifica al fine di capire meglio lo stato del nostro mare.

Ottima app per coinvolgere le persone nello studio del mare. Viene richiesta la foto del soggetto segnalato, ma fare una foto in acqua col telefono non è per tutto possibile. Comunque ho già fatto qualche segnalazione che è stata accettata anche senza la foto della specie segnalata.
