Bagpipe Tuner

This is the first truly useful app for accurately tuning bagpipes. It is both beautifully designed and performs multiple functions. A pitch reading can be taken from Low A and then locked in and used to tune drones. This was tested in a noisy band environment and the application performed flawlessly allowing accurate drone tuning. The damping seems just right and the iPhone microphone was not overwhelmed. The meter correctly differentiated between and identified tenor and bass drones. The pitch reading was tested against our usual analog device and it produced identical results - so the app isn't just for pipers. The mid-section can also use the app to set their base pitch without any further reference to the pipers. The meter is calibrated for the bagpipe scale and can be used to tune individual notes with sharp or flat notes shown as deviations from the desired frequency. We've had analog meters fail at the most inopportune times and this app provides essential insurance against this occurrence - as well as being an indispensable tool itself. I can't recommend Murray's app highly enough!

This app doesn’t work properly at all. Don’t be fooled by the name.

It’s a good and accurate tuner. I really like the fact that you can pair it with a Bluetooth microphone. However, I would give it five stars if you could manually calibrate it. It tends to learn too quickly and often not to the steady frequency that you need it tuned to, especially when self-calibrating to your own pipes. Please update the app with that capability to make this app top notch.

When combined with the bluetooth clip microphone this tuner makes tuning the drones really easy and accurate. I constantly switch between my band and solo chanters, and this makes that painless.

I love this, especially when used with the Bluetooth mic. Setting the target pitch is currently done in the iPhone settings, which is a little clumsy (it should be easily set with ing the app). Also,an accompanying watch app would be awesome (I could tune without having to balance my phone somewhere). Worth the money.

So I purchased and install Bagpipe Tuner and the only operational button I see is "learn" and still haven't figured how to make it work. Perhaps I am not using it correctly but without a FAQ or Help file, I will continue to struggle. Wish there was a "refund" option.

I have been piping for 40 years and this tuner on my iPhone is the best tuner to date!! I have used many different tuners and none of the old big bulky things have even come close, oh yea, it work on the iPad just fine if you do not have an iPhone or iPod touch!!! This is an excellent tuner that takes into account slight variations of each note and makes it quite easy to accurately tune the chanter. My only issue is that before, the app would crash occasionally when using a plug in tuning clip. With this current update, it always crashes every time I plug in my tuning clip. Can something be done to fix that please??
