The Bankmed application is simple to use and provides a convenient way to access your information on your Medical Aid - anytime, anywhere.

Application features:

Bankmed Medical Scheme:
View your plan benefits and your Savings details, (should your plan include savings). Search for your most recent healthcare claim details with 12 months of claims’ history, view your approved chronic conditions and track benefit usage. Search for a Healthcare Professional and view your Electronic Heath Record (EHR).

Balance members can now access Active Rewards:
Active Rewards for Balance members encourages and rewards you for getting active. Achieve your Active rewards weekly exercise goals, earn fitness points and get rewarded with a play on the gameboard to reveal Miles – the rewards currency that you can redeem for a range of exciting rewards in the rewards mall.

User notes:

The application is available for any Bankmed Medical Scheme member. You are required to register on the Bankmed website (www.bankmed.co.za) before you will be able to log into the Bankmed App. Your username and password for the App will be the same as your username and password for the Bankmed website. To access your personalised Active Rewards exercise goals, Balance members need to activate the Active Rewards benefit in the Bankmed app.

Not great

Simple enough app, does what it promises for the most part. But for some reason it always pops up the website (“We care about your health”) embedded within the app with every button I click. It makes the app unusable

Rewards error

The app crushes every now and then and fails to load rewards. The only solution is to uninstall and reinstall the app. It is so draining

Delinking Apple Watch Automatically

Weekly or every 3 weeks my Apple Watch delinks automatically. Have been on the line with Discovery and Balancesa from November 2023. Problem not been solved Maybe they can have a look at their software as the Apple Health app dissappear from Health App

The app does not auto refresh

We constantly have to delete and install the app for it to refresh. And constantly have to manually refresh especially when it comes to vitality. Even though the watch and the other app is connected then when you call Bankmed they tell you to delete and install the app for refresh. The app is user friendly but the refresh part is a setback.

Continious issues of my Apple health de-linking by itself😡😡

Please fix this annoying bug. Every couple of days I need to delete the app and reinstall it again to enable me to link the apple health app. Without this I cant sync any data from exercises completed

Most frustrating app

This thing works for 1 hour then stops for the next 30days😡😡😡

Syncing Apple watch for Vitality Points

1) Sometimes the Active rewards banner indicate that it can not load. 2) Sometimes I am unable to Sync Linked devices and Apps for my Vitality rewards. The only way to fix both these errors is to uninstall and re-install the app. Please fix

Disappointing App for a disappointing Service Provider

South Africa is famous for its rent seeking business practices and Bankmed is a prime example of this type of business. A health insurance for Bank Employees but administered by Discovery. As a consumer there’s absolutely no value add from them. The app is even more disappointing. In 2024 it does not use facial id login and every time you have to manually type your password. Functionality on the app is very limited and for every requirement you have to call the call center which by the way is not mentioned anywhere in the app.
