This app is only for people who own or use the Barton Reading & Spelling System.
More than just tiles on an iPad, this app will save Barton tutors at least 10 minutes each session. How?
Student tracking
Set up each student once. This app keeps track of their current level and lesson. You can enter notes after each lesson. You can even send an email to the student and/or their parents or teacher – right from the app.
Tiles appear automatically
Tap on a student’s name and their lesson appears – with all the tiles needed for that lesson.
Words appear automatically
No need to build the words when you are teaching. Just click on the Next Word button. You will gain at least 10 minutes of teaching time per session.
Never put tiles away
When spelling with tiles, your student will pull down a COPY of each tile. When he is done, just click on the “Erase Screen” button. You never have to put tiles away.

The Barton Tiles app is a game changer! The app saves so much time because I do not have to set up or put away the tiles. All of the words are prebuilt for me. My students get so much more instruction time because I do not have to search for the tiles to build the words for my students to read. Also, when my students are spelling words, it’s easier and faster for them to find the tiles they need — because the tiles are always in the same place. My students and I love the app!
FANTASTIC APP - Love the updates
I really love this app - and so do my students. I appreciate having the words prebuilt for me instead of having to build them myself. I save 10 -15 minutes each session using the app which helps me get my students through the program faster. I really like the portability of the app and the fact that I won’t lose a tile. I also like that I don’t need to be connected to the Internet to use the app - only to download it. Totally worth the money!
Fantastic! Saves me time and easy to use
I LOVE the Barton Tiles app. It saves me time so I can spend more time with my student going through the lesson. My student loves being able to use the iPad. Plus, I didn’t need to buy the app for Levels 1, 2, 3, I used the physical tiles. Being able to only buy level 4 and it had all the words in level 4 prebuilt. Genius! Thanks so much!!!
Thanks for fixing the multi-touch! But…
PLEASE change the letter color on the tiles back to black. White-on-yellow for the vowels is hard to see. Or at least allow us to choose the text color. I may update after my first two students tomorrow to see how they respond.
Again, thank you for fixing the issue where touching with more than 2 fingers resulted in the app crashing. ❤️
App won’t work on newer iPads (6th gen)
On my son’s 4th gen it works. I did contact them, I got a reply, but not a helpful one.
On the 4th gen, it works well enough, crashing only a few times. The schedule in the book and the tiles seems to be off by 1 lesson, but my last kit was used, perhaps that’s why.
The app is very helpful but the price is not reasonable by any measure. I feel trapped in some ways. On the other side of that at least they where willing to open the lessons on the app although I bought it used. This was helpful. I doubt, however, if I have to pay $30 per lesson that I would by new. I prefer the new kits but the cost of the kit, shipping & tiles is tough.
The program itself is very good and is why I work hard to make it work. Customer service has been pleasant as well.
Barton is torcher if you love your son don’t get Barton it is torcher I repeat it is torcher
Barton is torcher if you love your son don’t get Barton it is torcher I repeat Barton is torcher. P.s this is the kid talking I know best 30 dollars not me never again.
Too much $$$$
I agree with others that the cost of the tiles on this app is outrageous. If it were $30 for all levels that would be reasonable, but $30 for each level in the app is crazy. We're already spending $250-$300 on each level. My son fidgets and plays with the wooden tiles too much so this would be great , but its just too much.
annoyed
Disappointed. I just dropped another 300 on level 7 and now will need to pay $30 for each app. Guess I'll just stick with the physical tiles. Susan, Is this a standardization control or profit margin?
No schwa
This app saves a ton of time overusing the tiles. I think there are some improvements that could be made here and there for the price, though. It's incredible that a Schwa is not available as a separate tile. Once, when we were using Schwa and tried to use a regular e, The e automatically turned upside down into a Schwa, but on the very next word, it wouldn't do that when we needed it to.
Bleeding us dry
I am disappointed. After spending $300 for the program, plus shipping, do we STILL have to pay an additional $30 to use the App? Per level? Is that really necessary? Come on, Mrs. Barton! Give us (a.k.a. the parents of kids with the superpower of dyslexia) a break already. You are bleeding us dry.
