Did they do any real testing?
Probably the worst app on my phone. UX really poor. Has a song (which I would question the licensing of) instead of a simple ringer for when temperatures are reached.
Yes, BBQ PROBE is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Not enough reviews to make a reliable assessment. The app needs more user feedback.

The main thing is that it shows the temperature and it appears accurate. The interface is a bit rigid and not user friendly. There is a graph but it shows temp over 1 minute in 10 second increments—pointless. You can’t zoom out to track the temp over time so I don’t understand what it’s for. The meat target temps are fixed—pork is 79°C, so it’s well done is your only choice (unless you know your optimal temps by heart and enter them manually each time). Would be great if they could tweak the app to make it more useful 🙏🏻
The fact that you have to enter in the grill temperature of the desired temperature and the time just to get it to activate is not a good operating way. You should be able to set it so that the thermometer works out the ambient temperature and the desired temperature in then calculate how long it should take for the food to cook. You should not have to enter in all three timers. I’m stuck using this app because I bought the Aldi probe which is quite cheap so is it works well for the price, but I might just stick it in the meat and monitor the temps to work out how long to cook rather than setting the timers.
