Who is Beatly Pro for:
• composers/producers to get quick inspiration or a fresh material to work with
• artists/singers in need of unique rap beats on demand
• game developers, film-makers, digital content creators, who need to use free and original music in any kind of multimedia
• musicians who need an accompaniment for their practicing (thanks to the chord progression builder you can simply define what you want Beatly to play)
• pretty much anyone interested in generative art and nonmainstream music
How it works:
Beatly Pro randomly chooses set of instruments and creates 8 unique bars of looped instrumental music (32 beats). You can combine and rearrange these bars arbitrarily and edit them in piano roll. Tempo is chosen automatically, however it can be simply changed as well as key. All notes are picked by the algorithm. Currently you can choose from default rap, lo-fi, chiptune, cinematic or dance styles. Each of these styles brings unique music experience. You can also activate chord progression builder to define exactly what chords will Beatly use in the generated bars or create your own bar patterns which will be consequently used by the algorithm when building a new track. To modify already generated chord progression in the track you can change key/base chord of each beat within a bar. All notes of given beat will be transposed appropriately.
Run app, tap the play button. It is that simple. Music will be different each time you hit the reload button. Once you're done editing the tune, simply save it for later, export to MIDI or record your live session to WAV audio file. You can even render separated stems or seamless loop of your entire track. You can also hook up Beatly with your favorite mixer using MIDI output.
Drums too loud? Adjust the volume. Synth annoying? Mute it or try other built-in sounds. Loving the sound of piano? Solo it and make it shine. Mixer got your back! Need variation? Reload any instrument part of your track. Generated part not to your liking? Leverage the piano roll to fix algorithm's mistakes and make it awesome!
Can I import my own samples?
Yes! You can attach or record your very own WAV or M4A sound to any instrument track. Just bear in mind, samples tuned in C will sound best! :)

Beatly Pro Reviews

Not for me

I've got a number of generative music apps and for whatever reason, this one just does not produce music I like. Doesn't matter which settings I play with, I can't get music out of it that I like 🤷‍♂️

Great generator

Please add drum and bass as a style?! That would be amazing. Great work thanks

Very useful for getting things started.

I’ve just bought this after seeing Doug Woods demo it on his YouTube channel The Soundtest Room. It’s an easy app to understand which is a good thing, and I’ve used it in AUM as it’s Inter App Audio, and standalone as well. It’s opened up some interesting possibilities as it can control other synths and has Ableton link. It’s a doddle to use in AUM and a no brainier. Just buy it as it doesn’t cost much more than an overpriced posh coffee, which is something I don’t drink.😎

Generative joy-bringer!

Lots of possibilities with this innovative little app, and improving with each iteration. Good to see AudioBus and Ableton Link support, which makes it much more user friendly when part of an AUM session. What it really needs to complete the package is midi out and AU3 connectivity.

I have used Beatly Pro a few times since getting the app and every time I use it I am impressed. A lot of the beats it produces sound really good. The app can make beats quickly and as a request in my last review, I asked if the beat name creation could be automated to speed up the saving process but still allowing you to rename them if you wanted to. The developer kindly implemented this in an update and it works really well. What would also be useful, if you load a saved beat to listen to, is to have the ability to select the previous and next saved beats maybe by using arrows for backward and forward selection. It would be quicker than going to the menu and having to load each beat separately. That way you could step backwards and forwards through your saved beats and be able to listen to them much easier. I would like to ask for another request. When Beatly Pro creates a beat would it be possible to create a few variations of that beat using the same sounds? The variations could even be intro, verse, chorus, end with an optional fade out, etc. It might be possible to build a song from the different parts in another app. Maybe a song mode could be incorporated into Beatly Pro, so a song could be created within the app. The app is great as it it is but I would like the option to be able to join beats together to make a song. At the moment every beat is different and the sounds are also different, that’s what it was designed to do. One more question, does Beatly Pro have any FM sounds. Keep up the good work and thank you for a great app.

Can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this yet

This is one of my favorite apps on the App Store. 100 steps above and beyond any of the other AI song generators. And with midi editing, sample upload, effects, it really takes it to another level. Not to mention the character. The app has tons of it. And shout out to the Dev. Super cool guy!

It’s says rap and Lofi beat generator but no settings for rap it’s only cinematic Lofi default and chiptune and dance the app works fine and all but what’s being generated isn’t musical at all very Wack very very wack. If you are looking for a generator that’s musical and usable beats try Songen 5star and Piano Motifs hot extremely hot.. This app is okay with all the functions but just not musical enough

How do you saved a track you made?

Wow Its me! on

So far, I like this app I would give it five stars immediately, though on the iPhone it’s not very clear how to save the tracks you have created it’s not easy to navigate to the menu when you’re in the track developing mode. How do you save music once it’s been created…

Crap

Just pure fun and inspiration out of the box. Just click the generate button and cool grooves emerge. Customize the pattern, instruments and chords and do even more. Got it a while ago and it was great and with the recent updates it’s even better.
