I downloaded this app on my iPad to study while traveling. The app is terrible when trying to highlight notes. The cursor jumps everywhere. I downloaded this app on iPad Pro I usually leave at home as well. Same thing. They need to fix this so students can easily highlight notes. I’ll be reporting this to my university but they need to update this app.
I have to use this app for all of my graduate school textbooks and it’s been nothing but buggy. The app freezes a lot, the search function is barely useable, you I can’t easily highlight the text without having to re-do the highlight because it messes up the first time. Additionally, the download feature is an absolute joke. I use an iPad to read my textbooks that I’ve supposedly downloaded into the app so I can read them offline, but when I try to access them, the app will not open any of them. You basically always have to be connected to the Internet to access your textbooks. TL;DR The developers got their money from the universities and textbook companies and left us with a barely useable app that hasn’t been updated in 2 years.
The “Read Aloud” feature is absolutely terrible! There needs to be something done about it. It’s horrible on the website and terrible on the app. I can’t believe the company didn’t test this feature before adding it. There needs to be an update where you fix this problem because right now it’s completely useless on both the app and the website. If you guys bother to fix this feature I’ll gladly change my rating.
While I love the highlighting feature of the app, it’s as if there is an maximum idle time of 2 minutes before the app has to reload. There are times where I am working on an assignment and the app won’t let me go to another section in the book and just continues to refresh. It’s so annoying.
This app frequently fails to provide even the most basic functionality for reading. The page numbers don’t correspond to those of the book. The annotations do not allow you to select text half the time. When scrolling, you will eventually hit a blank spinning page that requires the app be relaunched. This app needs serious improvements for even baseline use.
When trying to search for a topic, it will bring up a list of pages where that topic can be found. However, when you click on it, it will often take you to different page than the one listed. I have also found that the page that it recommends does not line up with the page that the topic is actually found. The highlighting feature is worthless when you’re trying to highlight something such as a sentence or paragraph often times it will try and highlight a whole page. It is very difficult to just highlight a specific section, especially if that section has bullet points. i’ve tried this on both my iPhone and HP laptop. After you highlight some thing, you have the ability to do an annotation/comment. After completing your comment you are to saving the annotation. I find that my iPhone will save the annotation/comment about 50% of the time. If I do this on my HP laptop, it will not save any of the annotation/comments. This app seems to only be a “read only app!!!” Any other features beyond just reading in my opinion are worthless!!!
Keeps freezing
Listen, I just want to read my textbook, I don’t care about any other features. Here’s the thing, no body in my class can read the textbook because it won’t load in this app. What’s the point if I can’t do the one thing this app is supposed to do?? Thankfully, I found that I can read the textbook in Microsoft edge (Chrome doesn’t work either), but who uses that?? What a waste.
Trying to get a book from the website to load on the app? Think again! This app WILL NOT allow you to load books from links AT ALL!
Just because they have a monopoly on textbooks, they think they can provide a terrible product It is ridiculous that students have to put up with this There are dozens of good apps out, there, level the playing field
