I downloaded the app, excited to get involved, and attempted to register… more than 5 times. Each time getting an error message. I’ve given up.

I agree with vombaticus. Why so many questions for birds in backyard surveys? I couldn’t be bothered in the end.
Over two days I have tried to verify from email only to be told there was a problem and to try again later. I have deleted the app
I did the Great Aussie Bird Count for the first time this year and I loved doing the surveys, appreciating our local birds and contributing to citizen science. My only regret was that it only lasted a week. I was so happy to discover the bird data app and the fact that I can contribute a bird survey as often as I like and at any time of the year! Thank you to the app developers and the scientists who use our results to help look after our amazing birds.
There’s no account or profile section to manage passwords or username. Can’t log in once logged out and need to log in on desktop to edit anything on a survey. The updated log in system means I can’t do that either. 🤷♀️ There’s no similar species shown in the search either. App needs work.
I very much wanted to participate in the Birds on Backyards surveys. And this app is a great idea. However, there are many questions to answer under Site Details and there is no way to save the details for the next survey, so we need to re-enter each time. This is enough to make me give up.
Unable to create new account. So cannot use.
The layout of the app is easy to use, but I can’t record any data as it’s coming up with error saying ‘no location name recorded.’ I’ve turned location services on, I’ve tried checking to see if my location is shown on the map, but it’s still coming up with an error and won’t give me any way to manually input the location name.
A terrific app for long term standardised surveys which gives researchers the data they need to protect and save birds. Great work BirdLife.
We love our birds and would love to help document where, when and what birds we see. Sadly this app is overly complicated, hopelessly lost in its ability to identify the “where” and requires a huge amount of personal data that is irrelevant to the survey data. As a BirdLife member I’m unhappy that this app represents my interests. Birdlife Aust you need to rethink what you are doing here.
