Description

The Blending Board App is a powerful educational tool for teachers and parents working with dyslexic learners or anyone else still learning the foundations of blending sounds (phonics) and the multisyllabic rules of English. In this App users will find an easy-to-use resource that allows them to create a deck of phonemes that can be substituted and manipulated to create various kinds of blending activities. The decks enable users to practice decoding simple words, and multisyllabic words, too.
Blending Board also offers a unique opportunity for creative flexibility by granting users design options when creating personalized decks that are visually appealing. The end product is a professional-looking, personalized deck of educational materials that users can integrate into instruction with one or many, and which can be used time and again.

An easy-to-use QR code system allows the personalized decks to be shared with anyone who has the app, so that the teacher's time can be focused on teaching, not navigating complicated technology.

Blending Board Reviews

No sound

Mirlop14 on

United States

This is a nice application but there is no sound for kids/parents to check if they are sounding the words well.

Needs an option for fourth column

This app seems like it will be super helpful, but I need the ability to add a fourth column so I can add suffix s.

Edit Current Decks

This app is almost perfect for my OG instruction, but I wish I could edit my current decks to add newly learned concepts. The developed sounds already provided are fantastic. As some reviewed, there are certain consonants and digraphs that should only be in the first or third column, but unchecking unwanted cards is great. I really appreciate that any card can be created. I have toyed with the idea of creating rote/red word cards because of this feature. Excellent app for managing multiple card decks!

Problem with adding letters

Gingbel on

United States

I was so excited to use this app! However when I add the letters ch in the third column the letters show up in the second column as well! What am I doing wrong?

Good

Pretty good so far but wish I could edit and delete decks after creating them. Maybe you can and I can’t figure it out but not sure.

Make it possible to select ind letters

It would be better if individual letters could be selected so that a teacher cold do word chains. Thanks for considering

Super useful for OG!

I teach reading using the Orton-Gillinham approach! I love this tool for my virtual sessions or even to mix it up in person! One thing I would suggest to the developers is to have a way to edit the decks. I messed up creating a couple and now I am stuck with it!

Needs a few tweaks

OGspecialist on

United States

I use the OG method to teach my reading intervention students. This app is a nice break from using our drill cards. However, there are letters or digraphs that can’t ever be at the end of a word such as ‘wh’ or ‘h’ so students are unable to read those words. Also, for CVC words ‘w’ or ‘r’ will come at the end of the word which change the vowel sound, so those words aren’t really CVC. Developers, feel free to contact me because I would love to give you my thoughts on how to make this even better.

Latest Version

I’ve recently found this useful app and am exploring its features. After watching the video (on the website, not through the app), my practice with features has led me to mostly happy results. The functionality in regard to ease and flexibility of creating personalized decks with beginning, middle, and ending sounds is great! I am not finding success with changing the theme color or background (pumpkins, eggs, etc.). When I click the paintbrush, the color options and screen settings appear, but I can only get the screen settings g (dark, light, auto) to change. I deleted and re-installed the app, but that didn’t change anything for me. Thank you in advance for your support.

Confused

I love the idea of this app, but there is no sound, why can’t I hear the sound
