We are a family of 4 kids age 12 and 14. Coming home from NC we traveled from Cherokee to Roanoke VA on the Blue Ridge Parkway, then did the Skyline drive. This app kept the kids fully engaged in the adventure and was a fantastic addition to the scenery. Will be using this on any and all future road trips.
I purchased this but we never had consistent Verizon cell service to be able to use it while actually driving tbe Parkway.
I’ve used other apps for GPS audio tours this one was a complete waste of money and the most confusing when trying to use the manual function It only works if you start at their start location, it doesn’t list individual overlooks or even mile markers to help get the information, which would be beneficial for those traveling North to South. We’ve used other tours that know where you are by GPS and play the appropriate information for where you are located in the Park. That’s what I thought this one was it is not! I missed a good amount of our drive trying to figure out how to find the info I thought would play automatically while we were driving along.
We really loved the trip up to Asheville — and we’re so disappointed that it couldn’t take us up to Raleigh and beyond! The kids loved it! We’ll be doing part of the Blue Ridge Parkway again next year and I hope the second part is available by then.
I feel like I wasted my money! The informational pop-ups never happened. It only seemed to possibly work if you started it at the beginning of the parkway? We started from the south near Asheville, and downloaded the app as we were driving. It’s map, wHich is basically Google maps, tracked us but no information ever popped up. You could play the audio segments from a list, one at a time, and they were minimally interesting. Overall, it just wasn’t helpful.
