WAS a great boating log for the money
Was a great way to track vessel hours, maintenance and expenses electronically. Price increase was astronomical! From about $8 to $90 CDN per year, with tax. With this price increase there was supposed to be some improvements, but so far I can’t see any change. It still can’t access it from other devices, and I can’t see anything else different. I swallowed the huge price increase hoping that I could access the app through all my devices, but even if that worked, it would still be hugely overpriced. I will download my data before my subscription is over and will not renew. It’s not really any better than using a spreadsheet app.
New pricing scheme is absurd
It used to be a one time purchase but now it is 80$cad/y subscription! There is no way this app is worth that. Developers are being greedy and overvalued their app. I’ve been using this app for many years and bought it multiple times. I was mainly using it for trip, expense, maintenance and fuel log books. But, the number of outings I do and the length of the season here does not justify that amount of money! I guess I’ll be back to the old fashioned excel sheet.
Getting started
I recently purchased this App and I’ve been fiddling with it for a couple of days and can’t get it to work. When I highlight any of the 7 logs, the page will open but I can’t enter anything. I’ve deleted and reinstalled several times to try to get it to work but so far no success. I went into the Help and FAQ page but none of the generic FAQ information answers my question. I tried the contact page but it leads nowhere. I’m certain that this is something that I’m doing wrong and once I get it going it’ll probably be fine. I just find it frustrating that I can’t find any help. I gave the App a 1 star rating but that’s probably not fair because I don’t know how good the app really is yet.
Upgrade well worth small fee
As a long time sailor and user of Boating Suite I highly recommend this e-log book. New features and fixes make it a marvellous primary or supplemental tool for boaters depending upon you voyage/trip recording needs. Digital nature of the log book with features like reporting and exporting save a lot of time and work compared to just using traditional log books. Ease of use, Improved compatibility with multiple devices, easy data transfer and interface make this a great little app. Help support the continued development of the application by encouraging your boating friends to take a look.
New version is worth the upgrade
App works well and new version goes well beyond the original. Recommend for recreational boaters.
