Book Tracker: Reading planner

TBR list & bookshelf log

Published by: Simone Montalto

Description

Book Track is an iPhone, iPad, and Mac app that can track your books — both the ones you own and the ones you hope to own in the future.
Avid readers know how difficult it can be to keep tabs on a growing book collection and that's where Book Track comes into its own by making it quicker and easier than ever to track your reading. Not only can you track all of the books that you own, as well as how far you've read, but you can also keep a wishlist of the books that you'd like to pick up in the future. Whether a book is in your 'Library' or your 'Wishlist,' Book Track displays information and gorgeous cover art for all of them. While Book Track uses information from the internet, more obscure books can also be added manually, too.
Book Track is a free app and is limited to 5 books. A single in-app purchase unlocks support for unlimited books across iPhone and iPad. A separate purchase is required to unlock the full Mac app.
Book Track users can look forward to:
- A synchronized list of books and information — whether you save a book on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, it'll be synced across all devices. Both your Library and Wishlist will be synced seamlessly and automatically so you'll never lose a book again — or buy the same book twice because you forgot you already own it!
- Easy and comprehensive book organization — Every book you add to your Library can be marked as read, reading, or unread, with each book also supporting tags to help you find similar books throughout your collection. Book information like title, author, description, publisher, year of publication, genre, and even the description can also be edited to make your Library as accurate or personal as possible.
- Quote saving — Find a passage within a book that you want to save for later? Book Track can save your favorite quotes in one place so you can read them again later. You can even put them on your Home screen using a widget.
- All the stats, right where you'll see them — Book Track collects library and reading statistics and puts them right on your Home screen with gorgeous widgets. iPad users can enjoy an extra large widget with even more stats, too!
- Support for importing books from services like Goodreads, BookBuddy, Reading List, Delicious Library, and more — It's never been easier to import your books from other apps and services so you don't have to start building your library all over again. Book collections can also be exported to PDF and CSV as well.
- Deep integration with iOS and macOS — Book Track includes support for the latest Apple features including Shortcuts and Siri, while Widgets can be used to put your favorite quotes right onto your Home screen.
- Privacy — Book Track doesn't collect any of your personal data and doesn't track you in any way. Books should be fun, not another reason to worry about your data privacy.

Not what I wanted for the price

When I downloaded and paid for the app it didn’t have the TBR as part of the title. If it had I wouldn’t have paid for it. I purchased the app because it was laid out so nicely and I really liked the statistics. But, it’s not easy to use. There are so many clicks to get it to do what I want it to do. I can’t change the read dates, so my tracking is off. I don’t like how it won’t track you are reading for the day unless you update the percentage/pages. I want it to assume I’m reading and put that book in the calendar. Overall a nice looking app and I thought it would be a great alternative to Goodreads, but the more I use it the less user friendly it seems.

I have to purchase the app twice for each device? Utterly ridiculous for an app that’s value is its presence across the Apple platform. Will request a refund.

So far so good

It’s only been a few minutes but I like this app so far. It’ll help keep track of all the books I own while I’m out and about. The only thing I didn’t quite like is that I could only add 6 books then was required to buy—it was a one time, life time payment of about $16. I wish it allowed you at least 50 books free to add onto your library before the payment so that you could honestly get more accustomed to the app, just in case.

Great tracker on the go!

I’ve been using for a couple of years and really like how it integrates with the MAC version. I’ve got my list at my fingertips and can easily find/add book recommendations from friends/colleagues. The developers are very helpful and quick to respond with any feedback or questions. I highly recommend this app!!

Absolutely love this app and can’t stop using it!

Devs did a wonderful job with this. After getting the premium version, I use this regularly (did so beforehand too). The stats breakdown is fantastic but my favorite part is the ability to save and organize quotes from your favorite books. I love having the widget with the quotes so I can see a new one each day.

Latest update makes the app unusable

Dragon.Lady on

The latest update makes it so you have to report your progress on audio books based on time left (not time completed). This is both super dumb and means you have you calculate it. Most audio apps, Libby and Audible included, show what time you have remaining based on whatever else they throw at the end of the audio file. So this could be credits, ads for or other books, previews of the next book in the series, etc. So now, rather than just reporting what hour and minute you are at in the book, you have to look at what the listening app says is left, the jump ahead in the chapters to see how much time at the end of the audio file is for things that are not part of the book and then manually figure out how much time is left in the actual book and put THAT figure into this app. I purchased the lifetime subscription a year ago and now I will be leaving this app if this is not put back in the coming days so I can have all of 2025 in one app.

Good But Not Great

JMCSN1776 on

I have been using the pro version for around 3.5 years now and I’ve seen a lot of changes, and not all of them for the better. Let’s start with the pros: it’s simple to use and very clean. I like the ability to scan multiple barcodes at a time when adding a large purchase to your library. The ability to export your library is a great addition as well. Now the cons: the widget constantly gets removed or fixed and doesn’t work anymore and I have to remove it from my home screen. The fact that I can’t import into my library from other apps such as Goodreads is a shame and needs to be fixed. Not being able to search for the book cover image online is a big negative as well. I don’t want to take a picture and upload it. I wish you could search for the cover you have and add it to your library. The sorting by genre, author, type etc is abysmal and I get so frustrated with having to open 8 different menus to set them, that I just give up. Overall it’s a good app, but the updates keep making it worse.

The best tracker app i have found and use

Yea

Good except…

The app looks good and is not hard to figure out. The bad/dumb thing is if you are logging an audio book you have to convert the time of the book into minutes. Why??? Why can’t we just say a book is 21 hours 13 minutes?? Why must I first work out some math just to log a book? Please change this. Otherwise, I really like the app.
