This app is a beer recipe calculator, brew session tracker, and brew log - all on your iPhone. This application is capable of syncing with the Brewer's Friend cloud solution (the application works by itself stand alone, but the sync requires a premium account at the site).

* Complete recipe designer with pre-populated list of grains, hops, and yeast. Ability to add your own custom grains.
* Fully supports metric units!
* Work in Specific Gravity or Plato.
* OG/FG/IBU/SRM, yeast attenuation automatically calculated.
* Supports All Grain, Extract, Partial Mash, BIAB.
* Tells if recipe matches style.
* Pick the equations and units you prefer.
* No Chill – Extended Hop Boil Time Supported.
* Target 'to the fermentor' or 'to the kettle' batch sizes.
* Journal for tracking events like gravity readings, volume collected, dates, and tasting notes.
* Tracks what phase the brew is in.

- Adds a brew timer feature.
Version 1.2:
- Recipe sync with the Brewer's Friend cloud is supported (requires premium account).
Version 1.3:
- Brew session sync with the Brewer's Friend cloud is supported (requires premium account).
Version 1.4:
- User interface updates, sorting of recipes and brew sessions, performance improvements.
Version 1.5:
- Adds support for: hop stands (whirlpool and hopback hop uses), recipe CO2 level field, milliliters as unit in other ingredients section. Improves recipe listing view (shows snapshot indicator, index added).
Version 1.6:
- Adds stand alone calculators.

Malfunctions and design flaws

Recipes show for a split second, and then the app goes blank and says «No recipes». Timers are inverted: Ingredients to be added at 10 minutes prior to boil-out start 10 minutes countdown from boiling start!

Great tool for brewing

I haven’t tried any of the other programs than Brewer’s Friend. If I would have to suggest a change I would ask for a button for scaling the recipes when planning a brew session. I usually brew 25liter batches, but sometimes I brew smaller/bigger. Instead of scaling the recipe I would like to only change it for this one session.

OK, but lacking in GUI and functionality

The GUI needs hi-res updates and the brew function has no use. It would be great to use the full brew-day functionality from my phone. Access to the recipes and ability to sync and update them on the go is a big plus!

Virker lovende

Prøvd 1 batch, virker bra så langt. For meg er det en hårfin balanse mellom å kunne registrere det man skal uten at det blir for mye parametere... Savner bare muligheten til å legge inn et konstant bidrag på meskevannet slik at det blir rett på Grainfather 🍺

Hi. I just downloaded this app. Could you please add the efficency calculator and yeast pitching calculator.

Keeps you organized

This app helps me keeping organized. The many calculations in the preparation stage makes it really easy to adjust the brew and keeping control of the measurements whithout being a rocket scientist. You can also keep track of your inventory and generate shopping lists. The best part is that your recipes are saved and easy to recall whenever you want to copy the same brew. It works best if you're a member of Brewer's Friend, since it'll link to your profile.
