Bullet Journal & Planner Reviews
Loving this app…
I have used a manual bujo for a few years. I love the system but I was desperate for a way to record tasks and notes etc. in real time. Having an A5 notebook and pen with you constantly is not workable. There had to be a digital solution. For me, this app is fantastic. Very simple and intuitive and it’s just like having a bullet journal in your pocket at all times. It didn’t take me long to fork out the annual subscription. Worth it without a doubt. I just hope that the support matches up to the product itself. Thank you for developing this, I really appreciate it.
Beautifully simple
This app is the essence of BuJo distilled into a beautiful package. It’s really easy to get to grips with, encouraging productivity straight away. It’s feature rich (especially the premium version), but the developer does a really good job of making the app look really clean and uncluttered. This means you’re not distracted with the mundanity of adding/organising/decorating tasks and notes, but left with a clear picture of what your day/week/month/year looks like, and a clear head to get things done. Bullet is the best bullet journaling app I’ve come across - I wholeheartedly recommend.
No response from developers
I really love this app. I’m a paying customer and have emailed Hamish on the contact email address twice to tell him how much I am a fan. However I also told him the forgotten password feature isn’t working and I can’t reset my password to log in on desktop. It has been over a month now and still no reply so regretfully I will have to submit the first 2 star rating. I hope I can get sent a new password soon.
Great implementation
I remember keeping a bullet journal and this brings me back to all the best practices associated with it.
It’s a well-built app and great for porting the flexibility of bullet journaling into the benefits of digital.
Minimalist bullet journaling gone digital
TL;DR — if you use a minimalistic approach to bullet journaling then you might love this as much as I do, but for feature-rich, colourful BuJo-ing, look elsewhere.
This app is fantastic! I bullet journal for work, to help visualise what’s coming up and what I need to do. I have a very minimalistic, functional style when it comes to my bullet journal and I started looking for an app that could streamline the process — setting up weekly spreads was getting in the way of using my journal, but pre-made planner notebooks were too constricting for me. I compared a few different apps and this one is the clear winner for me. I’m currently just using the free features, which is more than enough to replicate the basic bullet journal functions.
Unlike on paper, the days grow or shrink depending on how busy they are, so I don’t have to worry about whether I’ve got enough space in my spreads (or if I’ve given too much space and ended up wasting paper). You can re-order entries for each day, so notes, tasks and events can mix in together if you like to structure your day chronologically — other apps often list events, tasks and notes separately, which isn’t how my brain works. And the real game-changer that I haven’t seen on most other apps is the ability to add entries for a day, week, month, or whole year. Some of my tasks are just for one day, while others are week-long efforts, and I love being able to have both types available at a glance, just like I would on paper.
I do use a regular digital calendar, because most of my meetings come through as calendar invites via email, but I personally find that having a separate (now digital) bullet journal to consolidate everything really helps me stay on top of everything. This app doesn’t automatically integrate with all your calendars, but I don’t mind that because not everything sitting in my various private and shared calendars needs to be in my immediate head space.
only good parts from physical and digital bujo
It magically captures the soul of our good old physical bullet journals. Beautiful, intuitive design makes the digital journal works as your brain works, just as our physical journal did. No distractions. It's always with you (phone and computer), no fear of losing or forgetting. And I no longer have to re-write everything for migration or making collections. Thank you for the amazing app!
The simplicity of bullet journaling with the depth of the most powerful task managers
“Wow, it does THAT too?” I find myself saying this often with this app. It’s really great. The infinite nesting of lists and tasks. Flexible scheduling for multi scale planning (this week, this month, this year) Photo upload so I can get handwritten notes in. Notes, events and tasks all next to each other on a drag and drop timeline. Intuitive way of dealing with overdue tasks. My jaw hit the floor when it asked me “do you want to mark this completed yesterday or today” what a thoughtful feature! Can’t say enough either about how much I love its sleek and simple design.
This takes all my favorite features of ALL the productivity apps I’ve used:
Depth of todoist
Feature rich nature of TickTick
Visual simplicity of Things3
Multi level planning
And then combines them with the simplicity and ease of bullet journaling! I always loved bullet journaling but I didn’t like the idea that I could misplace my journal and lose all my planning with it. With this app, I get to keep my journal in the cloud and… so much more.
The only extra things I wish it could do: Lock Screen widget, have an option to show and complete habits on the timeline and also make it possible to archive events from the iCloud calendar to clear completed events from view! Someday, maybe natural language processing?
Even if these features never come, can’t say enough good things. Works like I want it to right out of the box. perfect for my brain. I’ve tried every single one you can think of. This is the sidekick I’ve been waiting for for the longest time! Purchasing annual and leaving this review to tell you — even throwing down a couple bucks on a week of the app is worth it to try it out. Fantastic stuff
Great design w a few fatal flaws
I like the set up of this journal a lot—simple, clean, and having the buckets for days, weeks, months that also show a breakdown of days.
The issue is that without filtering the views quickly become overwhelming. For example I have repeating simple daily tasks that end up overcrowding the weekly view, making it hard to focus on what’s important for my overall week. Same with the month.
I also would love to be able to drag a task from the week down into a specific day without having to swipe it.
If they add filtering (by importance and tags) to each view this will be the perfect app.
Amazing app. Would love the option to have multiple journals
Absolutely what I’ve been looking for in the past few years. Saves a tone of time, simple and has a freemium version. The developer is ah-mazing!
I would just pay money to support the project. That being said I would like to see one more feature that lets me have atleast 2 journals. One for work and one for personal stuff.
PS. The reviews and follow up comments are truly wholesome. I know my suggestion will be looked at so giving a 5 already! Thanks for making this app!
Can't get back to timeline view without restarting app
Just downloaded and seems like it's got huge potential. But one thing I can't figure out is how to get back into the timeline view of upcoming tasks. Seems when you first start the app, it shows the timeline view. But as soon as you move to any other view, say a list, there's no way to get back to the timeline view without force quiting the app and relaunching it. Perhaps a bug? All it really needs is a timeline button in the side menu.
