Know before you go with California Road Report, your best app for being informed of what's happening on the highway.
With California Road Report you can view CHP incidents, CalTrans road conditions, chain control, road closures, highway cameras, CalFire incidents, and rest stops in California on your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch on the go!
- View CHP Incidents in areas nearby or from a list of selected areas in either list mode or map mode
Each CHP incident reported contains the time of occurrence, location, and details of the incident.
- Hands-Free Mode - With hands-free mode, CHP incidents can now be spoken to you while you drive so you can keep your eyes on the road and still receive CHP reports. (note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.)
- Search for CalTrans road conditions on any given highway in California
Ideal for checking chain requirements prior to driving in snowy conditions, knowing if there will be road work, or finding out if a particular stretch of the highway has been closed.
- Find out where chain control is being enforced during snow storms
While in map view you can pan around the state of California to see where chain control is being enforced or scroll through a list of all chain control areas in California.
- Find nearby rest stops
Need to take a break while on a long drive down the 5? Check out nearby rest stops and see their available amenities.
- See highway cameras
See pictures from over 500 highway cameras (with some including live video) in the state of California and also share them on Facebook, X, eMail, and SMS.
- Road Closures
Avoid traffic by knowing which roads are closed or have lane closures.
- CalFire Incidents
See nearby CalFire incidents and check percent contained and number of acres burned.

Mr Levy, your app is for the most part awesome! I don’t know what you do for work but by the tap for details in civilian form in incident details is lacking actual details and really gives the civilian user no more information than the actual CHP radio codes and jargon specific to the CHP and what they post mostly to provide information to the media. I realize that the CHP has its own radio codes and “slang “ and especially 10-Codes and Radio Codes that’s not within the normal codes and context of most other county and city agencies and unless you’re in the business you’re not going to get most of the jargon. I truly appreciate the fact that you are putting your own time and effort into making this the best app available for CHP and highway incidents and conditions, but until you have to further educate yourself on the translation of CHP jargon, I would suggest you just stick with what you’re doing best. As a Paramedic who’s worked the streets on my way to being a Flight Medic, I pretty much know most of the radio codes and jargon usually used by most agencies, but CHP is not the easiest to understand and our pilots have had difficulty obtaining correct scene locations, details and conditions from CHP dispatch so we have an idea of what we’re flying into and the safety of the landing zone, so I don’t fault you one bit for not always getting the tap on details option correct. Just had a few minutes to let you know that you’re doing a great job with this app and I and many others appreciate it. I’m not trying to criticize you or the app for anything, I’m simply trying to let you know that translation of CHP information has been an issue for many years. Thank you for the work you put into this app and know that I and other professional responders rely on your app over the actual CHP traffic information site. Thank you!
CA Camera
Love, Love, Love this App. So helpful to view road conditions. Allows me to see what things are like on the highways. Gives me the opportunity to know what I am about to encounter if I choose to drive on the highway 50; or, any other California Highways. Snow, Rain, Fires or highway backups can be seen on the camera sites.
Great, but faults
This app is great for viewing closed roads and viewing incidents, however I’d estimate 95% of the time the camera view functions do not work. Sometimes the camera are down, but a majority of the time they simply don’t load or are just a black screen. Full service bars, wifi, etc. Great idea but needs some fine tuning.
Whut happened?? It’s a bust now
I used to be able to see if there’s traffic in the road but now it doesn’t show this anymore. It’s useless.
Asleep at the wheel
This is a great app when it’s actually on time ..this is twice this week. It’s not up-to-date. I’m looking at yesterday’s traffic instead of this mornings! as if somebody forgot to come to work at least in my area.
This seems to be something that just happened recently before that, and Other than that , it’s great!
This info in Bunk
Saw that the only way out of my community was closed due to a sinkhole. The closure was marked clearly in the map at the intersection of San Pasqual and 78, 2 miles from my home. Suspicious since no one was whining on NextDoor app so I drove to the intersection in question to investigate whether I’d be able to head out for work in the morning. I drove 2 a mile in each direction from that intersection and there are no closures and no sinkholes.
I also noticed that all of the entries in the road report list had the wrong cities for the intersections listed.
Do better.

Great spot use it everyday
Thx
Check every morning
I check this app every morning before I leave for work. Or when I see law enforcement running with lights and sirens

Just got app - glad it was recommended
Repeatedly crashes
UPDATE: 2-27-23 Problem solved. Great response from developer. The app is now back working beautifully. It is invaluable when maneuvering the roads and highways in California during these incredible rain/snowstorms the past 2 months.
Used this App back in January and loved it. Now, 2-24-2023, it crashes repeatedly. Cannot get it to stay open. So, if it gets fixed I switch to a higher rating, but right now it’s unusable on my iPhone 14 Pro.
