When it works, the program is great. But there are lots of bugs and glitches that need to be fixed. Here are pros and cons: Pros: 1. I love the teacher and her videos (Anja - the German teacher). I have been using/following her stuff for years on YouTube & Patreon. She is the reason I bought the program, and they were smart bringing her in for this. 2. I like the logical order/sequence & how it is set up. The lessons are effective. 3. The videos are informative and explains „Why“ the grammar is the way it is... or that it is just a silly rule & there is no reason why - you just have to memorize it. Rosetta Stone is constant repetition, which also helps. But sometimes you need a small explanation and this gives you that so it is easier to understand. 4. You constantly get to use your voice. If you want to learn to speak a language, you have to speak it. This is a speaking program. If you are not saying it correctly, it will tell you. 5. With an account, you can use several different devices and it will pick up on a different device where you left off on another. I bounce between my tablet and home computer with this with ease. Cons: 1. It is very glitchy. Videos stick, the mic doesn‘t pick up what I am saying about 30% of the time the first time I answer the question and I have to use the second turn. It will say I am wrong a lot, when I am saying the exact same thing or am correct saying it another way. 2. You HAVE to use the tablet/phone standing straight up. The program does not twist to accommodate an iPad sitting sideways on a stand. My cover/stand holds my iPad sideways so I always have to look at the program with my head tilted. Not a deal-breaker, but it‘s annoying. 3. No support. If you have feedback or questions, no one is responding. It says it has a chatroom support and an email for support and feedback, but no one ever answers it. You don‘t even know if they got your message. None of the cons outweigh the pros. I‘m not sorry I bought it. It does work well. I just hope they do some improvements. With a few improvements, it will be amazing.
It’s good for learning so far because it’s interactive, but it has some glitches within it. Such as how sometimes the mic doesn’t pick up what I’m saying or how sometimes the videos will just freeze. Also, the first lesson is free, but the rest you have to pay for. (About $20 per). Overall, it’s really good! But it just has some glitches and expensive stuff.
The app froze on me after 3 lessons and has refused to work. I have contacted the email addresses that I can find but no one has replied yet. I will contact my credit card company if they are unable to fix the bugs. This is a shame as the idea seems good.
I am enjoying the course .Hoping to see an advanced one in the future.i sometimes wish there was a submit button so that the program could move along quicker once the answer is spoken, especially when reviewing later for practice
I had heard about this product long before it came out and was really looking forward to trying it. Although the general concept is good, there are some glitches. When I respond to the questions, the app understands my answers only about a quarter of the time. I know I’m not that far off the correct pronunciation. It is maddening to sit through the three attempts required for each answer and get none of them correct.
It’s really a good app great than Duolingo and others I recommend to all
This app is great; just one problem...my southern drawl makes it difficult to pronounce the correct way in the lesson. Could there be a way to help those that are unable to speak precisely what the app is wanting? Some A.I. feature of some sort? Thanks.
I have used Rosetta Stone, Babbel, and Duolingo, and many other podcasts and audiobooks, but Magiclingua is the best I’ve found. The technique causes you to respond to questions. It is nerve wracking but fun. Really keeps you alert and prepares you for real life situations. It is a pretty hard course so I plan to repeat it, since I am now probably an advanced beginner.
