How much does Campsite Notifier cost?
Campsite Notifier has several in-app purchases/subscriptions, the average in-app price is 532.33 ₱.
Just paid for it last week, set up alerts, it and it says it sent me notifications over the last week but it did not. Yes, my iPhone notification settings are all on for the app. Going to try to contact them bc not sure this is even an active service right now. All campgrounds have the exact same rating too.
Good, but utility issues
This app is a good start. However, there are some issues about its practical use. It is a notifier. That is, it will tell you if a campsite opens up or is open. That is good. But when is this kind of app most needed?
It is limited to federal campsites, so that is a practical limitation - notably excluding state-run campgrounds. And it looks within a radius set at 50 miles. For last minute campsite searches that may be too limited. Imagine yourself traveling and you want to find a last-minute campsite. You don't know exactly where you will end up. So, maybe you are willing to look within a range of 100 miles, or maybe even 150. Those who are planning camps with lots of lead time will probably use different apps. So, with this "notifier" it would probably be good to have a search focus on "where can we stay tonight" - that is, what are our options now. At least this is my view.
Requires you to download an app and create an account to find out they don’t support your campground
Might be a good app for campgrounds it supports, but you can’t find out what campgrounds those are before downloading the app, and creating an account.
Supports fewer campgrounds than other competing services.
Good user interface, requires payment for more than one search
The app is easy to use and straightforward in what it does and how it works. It costs money to constantly poll sites like recreation.gov to look for available sites, so I get the need for payment when you search for campsites after the first try. The app would serve me better if it had a filter for the length of my van since some NPS sites limit vehicle length to 15 feet, and I’m not interested in walk-up campsites or group sites. But still, a good tool to have these days when thanks to the terrible policies at NPS, sites are booked up month and months in advance with no good way aside from this approach to find anyplace inside many national parks to camp.
Third time I’ve found campsite
Got a campsite on labor Day weekend at Arches national park (devil’s campground). It’s amazing that people will cancel within 1 week but you have to jump on it quick. These sites get taken within minutes.
“Cannot Load Results”
Search function doesn’t work I just get an error message when I try and find a camp spot.
Not user friendly
I can’t figure out how to add money so I can get notified. I tried emailing about the problem but there has been no response. As it is the app is useless to me.
Super handy app!
I love the ability to look at pictures of the campgrounds and read reviews on the campgrounds before I book them. This app makes that super easy. The notify feature is awesome as well!
Poor listings
I don’t get it. This app just doesn’t have a good source for campgrounds. There are campgrounds right near me, but this app doesn’t show them. It also doesn’t show known state parks. What’s the point? To create a mailing list?
Absolutely horrible app
Update to my review. I was unaware this app would not show local campsites that were not federal sites like state or BLM lands. This was entirely my error in not reading carefully.
I am totally rescinding my prior review and will use the app as intended. Unfortunately I live in an area that has very few federal campsites…
Terrible. Difficult to use. App continually says “no campsites in area”….as in the entire state of Florida. Shows three useless sites in Watkins glen NY and totally misses the state park. This app is useless and a waste of money.
