I’m very impressed on how easily and quickly you can do a 3D scan just by using your phone. I’m already recommending this app to my friends 😊

This feels more like a testing ground for Neural Radiance Field (NeRF) developers than a useful consumer app designed for 3D scanning. It’s definitely not photogrammetry, if that’s what you’re looking for. Using the app, you struggle to follow the simple in app instructions as there are more steps than they guide you through. It’s not immediately obvious why you’re doing some things. Other steps don’t quite work as well as they should, meaning your scan will fail or you’ll struggle to progress. Once you get to the end of the scanning stage, uploading your data to be cloud processed takes 30-40mins. That’s way too long for the rather disappointing result end up with. What you get back is a simple orbital flyby of your object in the area you scanned it in, or cut out against a white background. You can’t do anything else to the “model” apart from share a video clip of your asset. The asset looks ok, but bits are kind of fuzzy. So the end result is far from their claim of being photorealistic and it’s not really a model you can do very much with just yet. If you’re looking for a good photogrammetry app, then this isn’t it I’m afraid. That said, this app could develop into something useful in time.
