Carpool Kids: Family Calendar

This app has been so helpful with our group carpooling. Five different families for different drivers, six different kids, It’s been keeping track really well for us, easy to make changes as things come up.

We carpool with two other families and have have a morning drive, after school drive, and after sports practice drive. This app is so easy to use and I don’t know what we would do without it! It makes organizing our carpool so easy. You can easily assign drivers, assign kids, send messages. It’s the best! We’ve used it for four years now and will definitely keep using!

Very helpful tool! One suggestion: you should color coordinate the days of the week (or even same color light to dark) for easy distinguishing of days.

Huge help for our carpool but unfortunately I am unable to view the names of the passengers on my iPhone so if someone is late, I cannot tell who it is. Update - the deliver reached out to me right away with the simple fix of reducing the font size within the app. Problem solved!

We are several volunteers working to get new-to-country children to preschool every day. There are PLENTY of barriers to getting all to run smoothly, but thanks to this app, knowing who is driving is EASY!!! We are grateful for the big assist!!! 💗

Overall I really like this app. But there are LOTS of ways it could make life easier. 1. It used to be available online so I could view and add things via computer (much easier than typing on my phone!). But now it is only available on the app on my phone or iPad. Less flexible and more annoying to start up a new carpool for the new school year… 2. If your carpool group is big enough, it’s very possible that not all the kids will fit in every member’s car (some families might have 7 available passenger seats while others can only accommodate 3…). It would be great to be able to add a second driver to any drive once the seats of the first car have been maxed out. 3. The developers should add more options to the “copy event” function. This function helps with #2 above somewhat, but it’s REALLY irritating to use. It currently copies ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING about a drive, including the driver and the kids in the carpool. The kids don’t need more than one ride at a time, and the driver can only drive one car at a time! The “copy everything” function might be relevant if you’re going to change the date, but it doesn’t help if you’re just duplicating the same event to increase the number of kids who can get a ride. It would be easy for the developers to add a toggle button to “copy driver” and “copy kids” so you can turn that function on/off depending on your situation. 4. SO. MANY. NOTIFICATIONS!!! Yes, notifications of changes to the carpool are important, but the app sends separate notifications for every. little. thing. It can really drive a person nuts. There’s a way to turn it off in the settings, but then you miss out on important stuff when really you just want to filter out the less important stuff. Not sure how to improve this and really it’s just me whining… 5. You have to manually add your kid to the carpool, even if you’ve already added them to your profile. It took me a long time tonight to figure out why I couldn’t add my 3rd kid to the carpool that my other 2 were already in. This seems like a redundant step and not at all intuitive. As I said at the beginning, it’s a good app overall, and I will definitely keep using it. But it’s a bit clunky and irritating to use, especially when you’re just setting it up. UPDATE: The developer is really responsive and already had plans to improve a couple of my complaints! Good on them!! And thanks!! Before I found this app, our carpool communication was a convoluted text chain that I would inadvertently delete. Communication was one of the reasons I shied away from getting into a carpool. Now, our spouses are even using it. It’s great for everyone to be on the same page and all in one place.

Getting setup is not the most intuitive. Once figured out, app still not reliably working. After getting some events entered I tried to enter a recurring set of events and it wouldn’t let me (enter all info and hit save but nothing on event feed shows up). So enter them individually, only after doing so for several they all disappeared so that was a waste of time.

I was having issues getting started, emailed support, and had an immediate response! Impressive!
