Carrie's TOUCH

Published by: CARRIE TOUCH

Description

Carrie's TOUCH is the first app conceptualized and designed by Black, Indigenous Women of Color for Black, Indigenous Women of Color surviving breast cancer. Though breast cancer does not have a color, the journey, narrative, and experience of a Black woman surviving cancer are radically different from a white woman, for many reasons including lack of adequate support, lack of trust, lack of resources, lack of awareness and education about breast cancer and its many treatments and side effects.
Carrie's TOUCH’s purpose is simple: to save more Black, Indigenous Women of Color and to humanize their experience with breast cancer.
Carrie's TOUCH is the future of breast cancer advocacy:
Implementing tangible support and resources for Black, Indigenous Women of Color.
Creating a more clear pathway of communication and understanding between patient and doctor through a more comprehensive picture of the whole woman, not just her diagnosis.
Dismantling “toxic strength” culture amongst Black, Indigenous Women of Color, specifically Black women and implementing self-care habits.
Providing resources, answers, and connections for marginalized communities dying of breast cancer at a higher rate.

FEATURES
An “I WAS JUST DIAGNOSED” Page that offers an easy “Start Here” option for new survivors.
Meditations, affirmations, journals, and reminders created for Breast Cancer Survivors.
Support groups, videos, financial resources, oncologists of color, free/low-cost therapy, and other resources.
So much more!
This app is provided for FREE by Carrie’s TOUCH.
BACKGROUND
Carrie’s TOUCH, a non-profit started by two Black women, one diagnosed with breast cancer. They saw a gap in services and support, and decided more needed to be done for women who looked like them.
Fifteen years later, Carrie’s TOUCH is still in the community, supporting Black, Indigenous Women of Color and their unique experiences as survivors.
Carrie's TOUCH was conceptualized to impact a wider audience, increase accessibility, putting support, resources, solutions, and answers right on the home screen of survivors.
