Simple cello tuner to tune up your cello. This is for the standard CGDA cello tuning.

Tuning your cello can be a difficult task for you if you are just beginning cello. The good news is, the more you do it, the easier it becomes. A nicely tuned cello can make your music sound a lot better and help you greatly while you're are just getting the hang of finger placement for notes.

Touch the note for the string you want to tune and then turn the tuning pegs on your cello and match it up with the note that is being played.

Also you can use this simple tuner for your viola, it is the same tuning, only the strings on the Viola are 1 octave higher.

Tip: Make several passes tuning each of the strings. For example you might have noticed that if you have tuned all the strings once, and then back to the first one you tuned, it might be off a little bit. This is because you are increasing or decreasing the tension on each of the strings as you tune it and the instrument's body might bend ever so slightly due to this difference in tension. This causes the other strings to slightly change in pitch. So make sure you keep on checking and tuning the strings until all are in tune, so make several passes.

It works perfectly on my cello every day

Don’t pay for something you can get free!!!

Every second a video game appeared.

The tuner was unusable for me as it kept being obliterated by an ad

My eight-year-old just used this to tune his cello.

“Dad, I need a tuning app. My cello is off by two fingers.” “Uh, this look ok?” [showing him the app on my phone] “Will you be able to figure it out.” “Yes, I think so.” I downloaded the app, handed the phone to my son, and left to take care of some things. In minutes, he was playing again. He says it was easy. Clearly worth the $0.99.

None Confusing Tuner

I am a young cello tutor and was simply looking for something to tune just the four strings. I have tried other tuners and they are complicated to work. With this tuner I can use my ear to patch the pitch and it works great. Even though it cause $0.99 it is the best money I have ever spent on an app. I would definitely recommend this app for anyone who needs to tune their cello often. Overall a great cello tuner app!

Simple tuner

This app is just what I was looking for. I sounds the tuning pitches for the cello and holds the tone until you tap it off. Nothing fancy but it does the trick.

Not incredibly useful but read the review

It was hard to rate this application as I think it's actually not super useful but it does what it states. I was looking for a cello tuning application similar to some guitar tuning applications where it detects a note as you play the string and tells you if it's too high or too low. This does not do that. It basically just plays a note on your phone and you have to match the sound and adjust the pegs yourself. It's debatable whether it's worth $.99 but I understand the developers need to earn a living. This would be useful for people learning cello without any other instrument at home to provide you a reference note. We have a mini grand piano at home so that isn't what was needed for us and probably will not be using this unless we need to tune it out on the road. I guess maybe that could be a useful case if you needed to play a note and you're somewhere where you don't have access to another instrument.

Ditch the vibrato

This is a simple app that gives you reference notes for tuning by ear. It will not tell you whether or not you are in tune, but it saves you from having to get to a piano to hear the notes. My only gripe is that the tones are given a vibrato which makes it difficult to fine tune the pitch by ear. A straight tone would be better, even if it's just a piano note.

I have found this app to be very helpful in keeping my cello in tune between lessons.

TERRIBLE APP

I have just started playing the cello and have been looking for a tuning app when the cello tuning app popped onto my screen. I thought that this app would be great because I am just a beginner and have been having trouble tuning but when I opened the app it was horrible! It doesn't even tell you if you are in tune or not. Terrible app...
