Challenging and fun
For some reason, I went in expecting a Metroidvania, but this platformer is completely linear. I held that against the game for a while, but I’m over that now, so I can look at it much more objectively. This is far from a bad game—it’s actually quite good. The graphics are excellent, and the gameplay’s as tough as nails. The developer was merciful, though—you have a limited number of in-game items you can use to skip particularly tricky sections, though if I remember correctly, once you use a skip, it’s gone for good, so use them wisely. Overall, it’s a little too tough for me, but I’d definitely recommend it to folks who love a challenge. Also, CHAOSCITY’s a completely premium game, so there are no unethical in-app purchases, and, according to its App Store privacy policy, it doesn’t collect your data. I applaud this dev for being honorable and respecting my privacy. My only complaint isn’t the difficulty; it’s the fact that the game isn’t level-based. It’s all one big level with a generous helping of checkpoints. This means that I can’t replay certain sections I really enjoyed without starting a new file. Anyway, good job, dev! You absolutely earned my money!
