Description

Chapters lets you create and manage multiple notebooks, each fully searchable and with its own settings.
Keep a travel journal, a photo log, a notebook about ongoing work projects, and your own personal diary in one app.
Manage writing projects. Create as many notebooks as you want and fill each with as much as you need to write. Choose a color theme, font, text color, and page color for each notebook.
Focused writing. Multiple photos per entry that you can move, resize, rotate - your words flow around them. Reliable storage, autosave, and passcode lock protect your words; share or read them on your computer with PDF, text, and email export. You can also create backups and save them to other apps such as Dropbox, Drive, and Evernote.
Add a passcode to lock the app and keep your writing private.
Enable word count to see how much you've written. You can also enable the extra keyboard buttons to jump forward and backward by word or character with a single tap, saving you time so you can focus on writing.
Work while using other apps with support for Slide Over and Split View multitasking on iPad.
Not interested in managing multiple notebooks? Have a look at Chronicle, an app that focuses on keeping a single personal journal. Chapters can import .backup files from Chronicle (as well as the .cbackup files from the older Chronicle2 app)

Does anyone know if there is a way to bypass a forgotten password??

No support

This developer builds some nice apps, but never supports them once they hit the App Store. Seems we are expected to buy the new apps clearly designed to completely replace old ones. Well, no more. I want a single stable app for my journaling. I’ve gone over to My Wonderful Days, has a great track record.

Developer no longer supporting

Sadly, it appears the developer of the App is no longer supporting it. The age of reviews also is telling. I have emailed 3 time seeking advice on how to restore via backups. No reply. A Pity as the app interface is quite nice. I now use Day One which has the same features and more.

excellent

I have used 'Chronicles' on my iPhone for ages… and it is very good… albeit sometimes awkward to make entries with my elderly eyes. Changing Chapters for iPad is a good move. The response to queries is very swift and detailed. I find the creator to be interested in suggestions of improvements. Being able to 'lock' photos in place to the referring text …and to be able to select a date range to export as a PDF so as to be able to share a hard copy or use it as a report would open this app up to greater interest to business people and professional users. I have recommended this to my colleagues for business use ( as above) and also bought another copy for my wife's home and travel use.

This is an excellent app & I use it very often with no problems. The only thing that would make me even happier with this app, would be for you to make it available on the iPhone. I do a lot of creative writing. With ideas popping in my head at any time it would be great to have this app on my phone so I can write straight into my Chapters notebook rather then having to write it on normal notes & then write it again in Chapters when I find the time. Please, please, please make this app available on iPhone. Thank you. Kind regards, Nikki

Convenient

Lemming from Oz on

I have several apps for note taking etc but this one sits on the dock; this is so quick & convenient to use, I use it in place of "notes". I don't try to use it as a word processor, but if I need to jot a note or idea, then this is where it happens :)

A good investment

After several days of use I am finding Chapters an invaluable App. I use it extensively for taking notes as I am reading for the different research projects I have going. My only criticism is that it lacks an 'undo' facility.

Lost important data - be wary of buying this app

Ms. Z on

So much for autosave and backing up regularly. I wrote some important notes earlier today. Clicked Done, then went back in to make sure it was saved. Left the app for two hours. When I came back to it afterwards to access what I'd written, all the data appears to have disappeared, apart from the title of the entry! Very disappointed. I can't even begin to tell you how utterly pissed off I am right now.

Nice and pretty

Hye Jee Jung on

I am using this app for recording what I eat every day for my diet plan. Great interface and design. Automatic time stamps come in very handy too. I can imagine this app being just as perfect for any other journal one wishes to keep. A room for improvement: it would be great to be able to take a photo whilst on the app.
