Decent app but very limited with the chemicals and equipment so I find myself never being able to do what I want to with it
Thank you so much for creating this lovely game I loved it so much that it is my second favourite game thank you thank you!! 😍😍😍😍
The UI is for iPhone, some buttons is out of reaching in the 4:3 display
Personally I think this app has potential, but the only problem, I don’t know is it is just my copy of the app, but there are barely any reactions outside of metal and acids and even then they just go on forever, it is currently too unrealistic for my needs and as such I dont really use it
Device: 11 inch iPad Pro I bought the app a few hours ago and have had a play around with all of it’s features. I’m impressed with the idea of the app and how they have made it a reality however I’m not impressed with the amount of detail and available features. Pros: - myriad of tools - myriad of elements - other tools to collect data Cons: - lack of equipment There is no water trough or gas syringe and this stops you from being able to collect gasses in a proper way. You only have indicator paper, litmus solution is available but so far I haven’t been able to use it as an indicator, there is no filter paper to adsorb it to make litmus paper. Titrations aren’t possible, there is no burette and no pipet. - you cannot save the products of your reactions in bottles. - the match and cooling tool are annoying, you have to select and hold it down for a while to change temperature by a significant amount and in this time you cannot check the temperature, you have to stop and use the thermometer but in this time your reactants begin to revert to room temp. Being able to place such tools (like the Bunsen burner) would allow continuous cooling, maybe a cooler should be implemented. - We cannot control the conditions of the lab, the lab is room temperature - The app isn’t optimised for new devices, my iPad model has been released for more than 3 months. - More than 1 thermometer that can constantly be left in the solutions to give data. - Labels, it is unclear what is what if you’re not keeping notes somewhere else and it’s hard to tell when gas is present. I would appreciate labels that auto update or a log which tells you what you have done. For an app that cost £8.99 I expect the above issues to be resolved ASAP, the app is worth £1.99 as a maximum The app is still great and I hope with future updates they can make it amazing because I’d hate for this to be the best it will get, especially if it is supposed to be used in education. I would also like to see the following features given the price: - A notebook/ log: if I wanted to carry out a required practical I’d want to know how long it was heated for example without having to get a timer myself (keep in mind this app is £9). If I could check a log that automatically recorded this that I could check I could plot graphs with the data. We’d also be able to log our own information like the concentration of our reactants. - Reactants in different states (liquid nitrogen) it takes a while to cool
The comcept is nice and it is fun- but you cannot learn from it as it is wrong. Most of the reactions are very unrealisitic and not what happens in real life. For example, potassium and water in real life bursts into a lilac flame and explodes at the end. In the game, there is just a white shiny light. Not worth the money.
From floating point errors to rounding errors The game is full bug and crashes a lot But the the biggest disappointment is that it a game and not a chemistry companion app for up A-level chemistry.
I like the app but I can't change the Bunsen burner flame to a blue flame . UPDATE NEEDED
There are many apps on the App Store but some of them better than others. The idea behind this one is brilliant but there is some need for fine tuning. Despite knowing that THIX is probably not going to read my review, I’d recommend them to add distilling equipment.
