App is okay but needs to add a takeback option to correct misclicks
The app is okay and the puzzles are good practice but the app doesn’t have a takeback option to correct misclicks. Not having this means that once a misclick happens, there’s no way to continue the game. It’s no longer chess at that point since your opponent is getting to play two moves in a row and you’re in essence having your turn skipped. When this happens I just let the game time out since the game doesn’t have an abort option either.
Lichess has the takeback feature implemented to correct for misclicks. ChessTempo would be a better app if it had it too.
Otherwise it’s an app that isn’t about chess, only some chess-like game.
Best Chess Training App!
I’ve used them all, this is the best. Tens of thousands of well-curated puzzles. Much better spaced repetition implementation for training openings than the other guys. Great practical endgame training as well. My game has improved a lot in the last year and CT is a big part of it.
Best chess puzzles
No other chess app has puzzles as good as chesstempo. They're always the same type of techniques on lichess and chess.com. Here, there's a lot more variety in the types of tactics and strategies
Impressed
Used the app quite a few years ago and deleted it because the website was more polished, which isn’t saying much because both were in dire need of an overhaul.
Overhaul achieved! The app looks cleaner and has well defined menus. I truly enjoy tapping around the screen to discover the new features that have been added while I took a hiatus from the game. The puzzles are top notch as always, as you’d expect from chess tempo, so no changes there. I look forward to working with chess tempo again to increase my understanding of this great and timeless game.
Disappointed.
For someone like myself who has a decent game of chess. I’m not close to great and wouldn’t even say that I’m good, however I can hold a game in any NYC park and it will be war. I heard about this app through reading online (can’t recall where) and it was leasing this app for helping the writer to strengthen and expand his game, and fairly quickly, as he put the time and effort into studying as well. Now here I am at the app, and at first it appears to be cut and dry, no frills (which I like) however, I have no idea how to use this app, the icons don’t come with a how-to prompt on first use, no help or support or manual. It would be really nice to know how to use the app, what each icon means and it’s function. Not only would it create a more user friendly app, most likely will lean it towards a more attractive interface, and almost importantly it can still be the go-to app for people like myself who don’t understand how to navigate between icons. I would love to learn more, and use the app. I paid for a subscription. Why pay for a subscription, if I can’t find answers and haven’t a clue of what icons/buttons I am pressing or what they do. Please, if there is a possibility for modification, let that be a priority. The idea is to bring the world to chess and help each player improve… even those who have even moved a pawn yet!
I’m human
Chess tactics is no good at all some of them are straight computer tactics average person is not going to spot them moves. I believe if you could select a range in which is comfortable for you great but you guys fluctuate making it inferiorating because I know some of the ones you mix in is highly rated players not 1300 or 1200 computer plays and thinks different if I could guess what a high level computer would do then I would be able to beat that engine
Great practice tool but bug in the tactic history
This is an overall great app to use for training and daily regimens, but there for there is a bug in the solving history when I go to see my last 50 tactics it will not show which is very frustrating
Best chess learning app ever
Thanks to the App developers! This App has a lot of useful and FREE functions for chess learning! My favorite parts are the training mode for the opening, middle and end games! It allows you to memorize the main lines and the particular lines as well.
Great App
An awesome site for chess improvement with a lot of functionality. App works seamlessly in my experience
Disappointing
Chess Tempo is one of the best websites for tactics training puzzles, but their app is garbage. The interface is confusing. None of the options are labeled or explained. I just did a tactic where I wanted to finish the game against a computer. I have done this before so I know it is possible, but after clicking on a dozen options, I gave up frustrated.
