Having used it for three weeks, I enjoyed every play. The feature that indicates the best options is fantastic, but for beginners, it should not be enabled to allow them to make errors and think about solutions.

Tech support is very helpful. The board and app work well together on chess.com and lichess, if you are playing a live person on either or the bots on chess.com. It needs to allow positions to be set up on the app that then upload to the board and that is something in the works. For now it’s too cumbersome to make this happen (need to go to external site then export and import it on the app and this is way too many steps). Needs to have more content for lessons and it will be perfect.

Love using ChessUp to play on chess.com and also to play with my kids OTB. Works flawlessly.

I’ve had the board for about a year now and have loved it. Being able to play online but away from the screen is fantastic. The recent integration with Chess.com is great and the thing that really puts the board over the top for me. Love the work you all have been putting in. Keep it up!

*****Original! I like the board a lot. I got this to become a better chess player, but you can’t do that without the lessons. Whenever I watch a lesson it randomly stops. I see huge potential and I’m sure ChessUp is doing their best, but perhaps they should just scratch this app and work with chess.com to integrate, promote, sells, sells, sells, everyone wins. *****Update! Ironically the day after I left this review ChessUp got an update and it looks like they are working on integrating chess.com. Also, another feature that I would like to have to help develop AI like thinking is to instead of having one move light up when touching the pieces, but then cycle through likely opponents moves. By cycling through the green squares where one green square blinks at a time, and then opponents squares light up for their most likely move. Then the blinking cycles to the next green square and it lights up the opponents next move. I think this will give an edge in developing move sequences. Thank you. Love seeing the app still getting improvements! Awesome team! Oh and also, the AI seems to only make a beginner move when I use the assistance. When I don’t use assistance, it’s like AI is unbeatable at any AI difficulty. ****update!! Yea the AI is totally imbalanced. It’s making moves that are 3 steps ahead of me on level 100. Lol… I’m so defeated.

I love this board, though I have an issue. For awhile now, it looks like the firmware on my board is specified as latest. I trigger an update anyhow and it always fails, even after resetting the board or my phone. Is that expected? I just want to make sure there aren’t newer firmware updates that I’m not able to see

If you’re lucky enough to get your buddy with an android to start a game since the find opponent search function does nothing then you might be able to finish the game if it doesn’t randomly time out. Make sure you keep the app in the foreground the entire game because if you multitask to something else it exits to the home page and won’t let you resume the game. Editing profile is also laughable, can’t change my username only my profile picture and most times that changes back to the default for the first 30 seconds the app is open. How did this pass QA? 2 stars since on the off chance it works it’s pretty fun.
